TOILET ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 792,251, dated June 13, 1905.
Application iled November 14, 1904. Serial No. 232,601.
To all whom t may concern.-
Beit known that I, ROBERT R. DEBACHER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State ot' New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this present invention is to provide certain improvements in toilet articles whereby a standard shape of back and front, one or both, may be combined with various shapes of frames.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l represents a hand-mirror in Iront elevation. Fig. 2 is a back View of the same. Fig.v 3 is a longitudinal central section taken in the plane of the line A A of Fig. l. Eig. 4 is a transverse section taken in the plane of the line B B of Fig. l, and Fig. 5 shows central sectional views through the two mats shown in connection with the hand-mirror.
The mirror-glass is denoted by l, and the back by 2. The hollow handle is denoted by 3. A stiffening-strip I and packing-sheets 5 are interposed between the mirror-glass and back, the stiIening-strip 4 being extended into the hollow handle 3.
The edges oi' the mirror-glass and back are seated in the overlapping inner edges of mats 6 and 7, the outer edges of which are in turn overlapped by inwardly-extended flanges 8 and 9 of an ornamental frame 10. The ends of the-ornamental frame l0 project into the interior of the handle 3 and are engaged by an assembling-screw l1, which enters the handle from the exterior at the front end thereof.
It will be seen that the outer edges of the mats 6 and 7 may be made of various shapes to correspond with the various shapes into which it is desired to stamp the frame 10. At the same time the mirror-glass and back, or,
in other Words, the body of the article, may be of a stock shape, thus obviating the necessity of providing' for a different-shaped body for every diIerent shape in the frame. Furthermore, by providing mats interposed between the frame and the body of the article the article itself may be produced in larger sizes Without increasing the size of the body of the article.
In order to space the mats 6 and 7, one of them-as, for instance, the mat 7-may be provided with a lateral flange 12, which engages the inner face of the mat 6 within the frame 10.
What I claim as my invention is- 1. Atoilet article comprising a frame, ahandle, a body and mats interposed between the frame and body.
2. A toilet article comprising aframe, a handle, a body comprising a mirror-glass and the back, and mats overlapping the glass and back interposed between the same and the frame.
3. Atoilet article comprisinga frame, a handle, a body, and mats interposed between the body and frame, said frame having inwardlyextended Hanges overlapping' the outer edges of the mats.
4. A toilet article comprisingaframe, a handle, mats having their outer edges embraced by the frame, and a body having its outer edges seated in the overlapping inner edges of the mats.
' In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of two witnesses, this th day of November, 1904.
