To ALL WHOM IT'MAY ooNoEnm Beit known that I, PETER THOMPSON, of Sai-dis, in the county of Monroe, andfState ot`"Ohio,'have invented a. new and improved'Shoe-Laster; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, andeiract description thereof, which vwill enable those skilled in thc art to make and usothe same,refe rcncc being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part ofvthis specification.-

This invention relates'to an improveuientin pincer's for lasting slices, or for'other purposles,vand consists in combining four jaws, are operated by4 the ordinary.pincer-handles or levers, in the manner hereinafter described.

The drawing represents alongitudinalsect'ionnl s ideview 'ofmy improved implement.

A represents the levers, which are connected together by the ordinary fulcrum-pivot, as seen at B.

Thejoint at the fulcrummay be-i'nadehy halving the levers, or by lapping one over the other, cr in any other suitable and convenient manner.

Thus far the constructionis the same ns the ordinary single pincers, hun duplicate thejaws (or the short ends ofthe levers A,)'hy attaching thereto (by halving or otherwise) jaws C C, which also act as levers which have their fnlcra at D. 4 v I i l These `jaws C are shaped so as to close upon the outsides of the lever-jaws A, as seen in the drawing, and so that `these piecesofleather mayv beA griped cr heldseparately hy the four jaws combined, as shown, at the same tixne. v

The inner ends e of thejaws C are pressed' inward, and the jaws closed by springsj` When the handles A A are pressed together, the movement will force the springs f against the tails eve, of the jaws C C,so that all four of the jaws will close simultaneously, and hold pieces oi leather-or other material with a strength of gripe proportioned to the force applied to the handles A.

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent'- In combination with the pincers or parts A A', the jaws C Cf and springs ff, constructed, arranged, and operating substantially a-s shown land described. Y
