SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 790,440, dated May 23, 1905.

.Be it known that I, HENRY I{LEIN,V& citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Revolving Window-Shade-Display Case, of which the followingis a specification.

The invention relates to a revolving windowshade-display case.

The object of the present in ventionis to improve the construction of display-cases and to provide a simple and comparatively inexpensive one designed especially for handling window-shades and adapted to display a large variety of the same and to enable a selection to be made Without handling the windowshades.

A further object of the invention is to provide a display-case of this character adapted while displaying the character of its contents to protect the latter from dust and light to prevent stock from becoming soiled and delicate shades from fading.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size, and minor details of construction within the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

The revolving case, which is polygonal in cross-section, preferably octagonal, is provided with opposite vertical parallel partitions 11, extendingoutward from a central vertical partition 12, which constitutes the back wall of the compartments formed by the partitions 11. These compartments, which are rectangular, extend from the center of the case to the exterior thereof. The caseis provided with opposite vertical parallel partitions 13, arranged at right angles to the partitions 11 and extending outward from the outer faces thereof and forming rectangular compartments, which terminate short of the center of the revolving case. 7 By this construction four rectangular compartments are provided, two of which extend to the center of the case, while the other two terminate short of the center. The partitions 13 and the outer portions of the partitions 11 form intermediate approximately V-shapcd or triangular com-' partments 14. The V-shaped and rectangular compartments vary in size and are adapted to receive different quantities of window-shades, which can'be assorted to suit the requirements of the trade.

The doors afford access to the compartments and enable the window-shades to be readily removed from the case.

The polygonal case is provided at the top with brackets 21 and 22, adapted to receive the journals of window-shade rollers. ()ne of the brackets is provided with a rectangular aperture to receive the spring-journal in the usual manner. The window-shades 23 are of reduced size and are designed to correspond with the contents of their respective compartments, so that a selection may be made without handling the contents of the case. By revolving the case the sample shades which are displayed afiord customers an opportunity to conveniently make a selection, and they also cover or close the compartments between the top and bottom pockets and serve to exelude dust and light to prevent the windowshades contained in the compartments from being soiled or faded. The displayed window-shades may be readily rolled up when it is desired to remove any of the contents of the case.

The top vertical plates or outer walls are provided with card or label holders 25, so that the necessary data relative to the contents of the several compartments may be readily mounted on the case. The straight faces formed by the polygonal case enable the displayed window-shades to lit snugly against the case and to protect the contents thereof.

It will be seen that the revolving windowshade case is exceedingly simple and inexpensive in construction, that it is adapted to receive a large variety of window-shades, and that it will enable the stock to be conveniently assorted. Furthermore, it is adapted to display a large variety of window-shades, and it will enable customers to make a selection without handling the contents of the compartments.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A polygonal display-ease provided with a plurality of compartments having openings at the sides of the case, and shades mounted on the case and covering the said openings, said shades being adapted to protect the contents of the compartments and to indicate the character thereof.

2. A polygonal display-case provided with a plurality of compartments open at the front, brackets arranged in pairs at the compartments at the top thereof, and shades having rollers mounted in the brackets, said shades being arranged to cover the openings of the compartments to protect the contents and to indicate the character of the same.

3. A polygonal display-case provided with diametrically-arranged compartments, two of the compartments extending to the center of the case, and two terminating short of the same, said case being also provided between the dian'iet-rical-l y arranged compartments with intermediate compartments and having pockets at the top and bottom of the com partments, the lower pockets being provided with doors, brackets arranged in pairs at the top pockets, and shades mounted in the brackets, said shades being adapted to cover the compartments and to indicate the character of the contents thereof.

4. A device of the class described, comprising a stand, a revolving polygonal case mounted on the stand, said case being provided with diametrieally-arranged compartments of different sizes and having intermediate tapering compartments, short partitions arranged in the diametrically-disposed compartments at the bottoms thereof, doors closing the lower portions of the same, and shades mounted on the case and closing the compartments above the doors.

5. A device of the class described, comprising a revolving octagonal case having straight side faces and provided with compartments having openings at the front, and shades mounted on the straight side faces of the case and covering the said compartments.

6. A device of the class described, com prisin g a stand, a revolving polygonal case mounted on the stand, said case being provided with diametrically-arranged com 'iartments of different sizes and having intermediate tapering compartments, short partitions arranged in the diametrically-disposed compartments at the bottoms thereof, and doors closing the lower portions of the same.

7. A device of the class described, comprising a stand, a revolving polygonal case mounted on the stand, said case being provided with diametrically-arranged compartments, doors closing the lower portions of the same, and shades mounted on the case and closing the compartments above the doors.
