PATENT OFFICE.
AUSTRALIA.
GRIP DRIVING APPLIANCE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 784,938, dated March 14, 1905. Application filed April 6, 1904. Serial No. 201,934-
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM LESLIE REID HALL, mine manager, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Peak Hill, in the British State of VVeStern Australia, Commonwealth of Australia, have invented a new anduseful Improved Grip Driving Appliance, of which the following is'a specification.
This invention consists of an improved grip driving appliance for automatic ore-feeders of stamp-batteries and the like, the said appliance forming the medium for imparting an intermittent motion from the bumper-lever gear to the spindle which operates the feedregulating gear of such as a Challenge or other ore-feeder.
The invention will now be fully described, aided by a reference to the attached sheet of drawings, in which- Figure l is a sideview showing the drivinggrip in position upon its disk wheel, and Fig. 2 a plan of same, while Figs. 3 and 4 are plan and side views, respectively of the grip by itself, the latter view showing the opposite face of the grip to that shown in Fig. l.
In said figures, A is the steel or other metal grip-lever, formed with jaws a and a2 on it, as shown; B, the metal rim disk fitted on end of the bevel-wheel spindle C in such as aChallenge ore-feeder; D, a link for connection to the spring E or other device which returns the grip to' its normal free position. The gripleverAhas a hole A' in its outer end for connection with the lower end of a connectingrod A2, the upper end of which is connected with the bumping-lever gear of the stampbattery in the usual manner.
The wheel or disk B has a rim t' formed on it, the internal face of which receives the jaw a of grip A, while the periphery of disk receives the jaw a2.
a3 represents clearance-grooves, and a* an ear or projection on side of grip-lever to hold it in position upon the disk wheel B, while a" is a lug or projection on the top edge of griplever to retain the link D in position. By the said grip-lever being lifted at its outer end its jaws a2 and a' grip the periphery and internal surface of the rim b', and so rotate the disk B until the end of the upward stroke of the grip is reached, when the resilient action of the spring E upon link D draws the griplever downward, and at the same time freeing its grip-jaws from the rim of disk wheel and which latter will remain stationary until the next stroke of the grip-lever appliance takes place.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-` A grip-lever as A for the purpose speoiiied provided with jaws a' and a2, Clearance-grooves a3, ear and lug ai and with a hole as A' near its outer end substantially as described and shown.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, in the presence of two witnesses, this 15th day of February, 1904.
WILLIAM LESLIE REID HALL.
