Be it known that I, FANNnc S. Vroron, a citizen of the United States, and a. resident of Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Medicine-Bottles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable those skilled. in the art to which it ap pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.

This invention relates to improvements in medicine-bottles of that class which are pro vided with indicating mechanisms whereby the time for taking a dose can be indicated.

It has for its object the provision of such a device as will be of simple and cheap con.- struetion and at the same time efficient in its purpose.

The invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, such as will be hereinafter fully described, pointedv out in the appended claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the upper part of a medicine-bottle embodying the invention. Fig. 2 shows a modification of the same.

The body of the bottle may be of any construction or form suitable in the premise. At the upper end of the body is the neck A, having adjacent to its mouth the annular projection or flange B. In the upper edge of the flange are a series of ll-shaped notches C, radiating from the axis of the bottle. These notches have considerable depth and are placed at regular intervals and are preferablv twenty-four in number. On. the face of the flange are the numerals from 1 to 12 inclusive, respectively placed beneath the apexes of the alternate notches.

I The cork D, made of any. suitable material, is adapted to fit into the mouth of the bottle in the usual way. Passing through the cork and rotatable therein is the inner end of the indicator E, formed of resilient wire. When tle, theposition of the indicatm. is such as to register with one of the notches C. ()wing to the depth of the notches, there may be considerable variation. as to the distance which the cork is inserted, and at the same time a proper registration of the indicator with a notch insured. ()n the outer end of the in.- dicator is the spring-clip F. When turned down this clip presses against the lower edge of the Ilange B and holds the indicator in the notch in which it is placed, and thereby prevents accidental displacement of the same. The clip also serves to hold the cork in place in the mouth of the bottle.

The operation of the device is as follows: The numbered notches C may represent the hours and the intervening unnumbered. notches the half-hours. The particularhour or half-hour at which a dose of the medicine is to be taken is designated by placing the indicator in the corresponding notch. After a dose has been taken the time for taking the next dose can be designated by moving the indicator accordingly when the cork is in sorted in the mouth of the bottle again.

In the modification shown in. Fig. 2 the notches C instead of being placed in the upper edge of the flange B and. radiating from the axis of the bottle, as shown in Fig. 1, are placed inthe face of the flange B parallel to the axis of the bottle, and. the numerals are placed on the upper edge of the ilange. .In. this instance the clip 15 engages with the notches C to designate the time at which the dose is to be taken. The clip is also some what elongated to [it the longer notches. B y means of the elongated vertical slots C and the elongated clip E a much greater variation than in the first instance can be ob tained of the positions at which the cork can be placed in. the mouth of the bottle-that is, the cork can be inserted more or less into the mouth of the bottle without interfering with the engagement of the clip with the notches C. In other respects the two forms of the device are alike.

It is obvious that other modifications of the device may be pointed out which will the cork is in place in the mouth of the boti also be within the scope of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, what ing a series of notches in said flange, a series I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. In a medicine-bottle, a bottle-neck having a series of notches extending around the same, a series of ordinals placed adjacent to said notches, a cork adapted to fit the mouth of said bottle-neck, and an indicator carried by said cork and adapted to register with one of said notches when the cork is inserted in the mouth of the bottle-neck.

2. In a medicine-bottle, a bottle-neck having a series of notches in its upper edge radiating from the axis of the bottle, a series of ordinals placed adjacent to said notches, a cork adapted to fit the mouth of said bottleneck, and an indicator carried by said cork and adapted to register with one of said notches when the cork is inserted in the mouth of the bottle-neck.

3. In a medicine-bottle, a bottle-neck pro vided with a flange at its upper part and havof ordinals placed adjacent to said notches, a cork, an indicator carried by said cork and adapted to register with one of said notches when said cork is inserted in the mouth of said bottle-neck, and a clip forming part of said indicator and adapted to engage with said flange when the cork is in place.

4. In a medicine-bottle, a bottle having a series of notches extending around the same a series of ordinals placed adjacent to said notches, a cork adapted to fit the mouth of said bottle, and an indicator carried by said cork and adapted to register with one of said notches when the cork is inserted in the mouth of the bottle.
