POWDER-ATOIVIIZER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 783,128, dated February 21, 1905. Application filed July 14,190i. Serial No. 216,570.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatI, RoMUALD A. OLESHAK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Powder-Atomizers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates generally to atomizers, and more particularly to an atomizer for spraying powdered or pulverized materials, the object of the invention being to provide an exceedingly cheap, simple, and eflicient construction of atomizer which can be used in connection with an ordinary bottle or receptacle containing powder and from which the said powder can be easily removed in the form of a spray or cloud by simply operating the bulb forming a part of the atomizer.
With this object in view the invention consists in the details of construction hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings forming apart of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a bottle provided with an atomizer constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical sectional view. Fig. 3 is an inverted plan view of the stopper and atomizer-tubes arranged therein. Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the air-tube. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view showing a portion of the powder-tube and discharge-nozzle connected thereto.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates a bottle adapted to contain a powdered or pulverized compound, and B is a stopper tightly fitting in the neck of said bottle, said stopper having a central vertical opening B, in which is snugly fitted the powder-tube C, the lower end of said tube being covered by a screen D, and it will be noted that the lower end of this tube is substantially flush with the bottom end of the stopper B. The upper end of the tube 0 is threaded internally, as shown at C, and is provided with an outwardly-extending col lar C upon which rests the rubber bulb E.
F indicates an air-tube, which is enlarged adjacent its upper end and threaded externally, as shown at F, said threadedportion being adapted to screw into the threaded porl tion-of the tube C, and the outwardly-extending flange F is adapted to fit upon the inner side of the rubber bulb and hold the said bulb tightly against the flange C when the tubes 0 and F are tightly screwed together, as most clearly shown in Fig. 2.
G indicates the discharge nozzle, which communicates with the powder-tube C and tapers toward its discharge end, as most clearly shown, for the purpose of rendering the device more efficient.
In operation the stopper with the air and powder tubes connected thereto is tightly fitted into the neck of the bottle or other receptacle containing the powder to be sprayed, and by pressing the bulb air is forced down into the bottle or receptacle, and the powder in a finely-separated state is forced upwardly through the screen and powder tube and passes out through the discharge-nozzle.
It will of course be understood that the size and shape of the various parts can be changed or varied without departing from the broad principle of my invention.
It will be noted that the device is exceedingly simple, consisting of very few parts, all of which can be taken apart, so that the atomizer can be quickly and easily cleaned in case any of its parts should becomeologged.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A powder-atomizer comprising a bulb having an air-tube leading therefrom, a powder-tube surrounding the air-tu be and securely connected thereto at the upper end, said powder-tube having a discharge-nozzle integral therewith, as set forth.
2. A powder-atomizer comprising a bulb having an air-tube, leading therefrom, the upper end of said air tube being externally threaded, a powder-tube having its upper end internally threaded and adapted to screw upon the threaded portion of the air-tube, a screen arranged at the lower end of the powder-tube, and a discharge-nozzle arranged adjacent the upper end of the powder-tube and integral therewith, as set forth.
3. A powder-atomizer comprising a bulb,
