IMPROVED PLATE IOR ARTIFICIAL TEETH.`

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ISAAC HORN, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton, and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plates for Artificial Teeth anddo hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, forming part of this specification, Ythe plate of an upper set of teeth is represented. i
This-plate, which is to be made of any material that may be .used in articial dentistry, is provided with suction o3: vacuum-chambers A A, constructed in the rim, so as to operate againstboth cheek and outer or buceal portion of the alveolus, by making grooves, furrows, or recesses, 'and communism to the inner ehamber, B or inner edge of the plate. This, together with the sharp ridge C, on the outer rim of the plate, running from the anterior to the posterior of the same, inclining downward toward the cutting-edge of the teeth, for the purpose of preventing food, especially hard particles, from passing over the upper edge of the plate.
These suction orvacuum-chumbers can be-placed in the plate, as above described, or in what is called cheek-restorers, which are added to the plate in case of impaired ,sense of taste, nausea, coughing, sneezing, &c.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The suction or vacuum-chambers, operating against the cheek and alveolus, and the sharp ridge on the outer rim of the plate, thesel `to be made of .any materia-l used in dentistry, substantially as and for the purposes above set forth. A f
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand, this second day of April, 1868-.
