CONVEYER-BAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 777,363, dated December 13, 1904.
Application filed July 15, 1903. Serial No. 165,628. (No model.)
'10 aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that T, FRANZ ABELs, manager of Kaisers Ohocolade-Fabrik in Viersen, a subject of the King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, residing at Viersen, Prussia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Connected with Conveyer-Bands Formed of Metal Rods Located One Behind the Other, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to that kind of conveyer-bands which are formed of metal rods arranged one behind the other. Hitherto the ends of these metal rods have been connected together by chain-links or the like. This way of connecting the metal rods has always given reason for some objection, because squeezing of the conveyers, particularly when the same are running over driving-rolls, has taken place. This evil is removed by the conveyer-band forming the subject of the present invention and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a plan view of a part of the improved conveyer-band, and Fig. 1 is a similar view on an enlarged scale and broken away.
Similar letters denote similar parts.
This invention consists in the employment of metal rods having their end portions connected with each other by interweaving them with pliable wire strips or with strips of woven material, so that the conveyer-band can be carried round rolls of small diameter. The ends of the metal rods (6, arranged at a certain distance behind each other, are in the present case interwoven with strips 7) of woven fabric, and thus held at a fixed distance from each other.
According to the object aimed at the connecting-strips may be formed of woven material or wire, whereby the connection between used, what I claim, and. desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
l. The combination with the metal rods of a conveyer-band arranged at a certain distance one behind the other, of strips of pliable material, the ends of the metal rods being flexibly connected with the said strips, substantially as specified.
2. The combination with the metal rods of a conveyer-band arranged at a certain distance one behind the other, of strips of pliable material, the ends of the metal rods being interwoven in the said strips, so as to form a flexible connection of all the metal rods, substantially as specified.
3. The combination with the metal rods of a conveyer-band arranged at a certain distance one behind the other, of wire strips, the ends of the metal rods being flexibly connected with the said wire strips substantially as specified.
a. The combination with the metal rods of a conveyer-band arranged at a certain distance one behind the other of wire strips, the ends of the metal rods being interwoven in said wire strips to form a flexible connection of all the metal rods substantially as specified.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
