N0 MODEL.
NED STATES Patented December 6, 1904.
PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL EHMAN, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF TWO- TI-IIR'DS TO ISAAC MATTSON AND PATRICK J. MELLON, OF PHILADEL- PHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
SOAP-HOLDER FOR SHAVlNG-CUP$.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 776,896, dated December 6, 1904. Application filed July 12, 1904. Serial No. 216,213. (No model.)
To (all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL EHMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsyl- 5 Vania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Soap-Holders for Shaving-Cups, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of an improvement in soap-holders for shaving-cups, wherein I.
I provide means for locking the same to the cup and supporting the same above the bottom thereof.
It further consists of novel details of construction, all as will be hereinafter set forth.
I Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a soap-holder embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view of a soap-cup, partly broken away, showing the holder in position with the soap therein.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a soap-holder consisting of the bottom B and the side wall C, the latter having secured thereto 5 or formed integral therewith the feet D.
E designates a standard rising from the bottorn B and suitably secured thereto or to the Wall C, said standard being bent at F, form ing the spring-arm H, which has the finger- 3 piece G thereon, said parts forming a spring- "catch.
It will be noted that the exterior of the side wall C is free from obstruction.
The operation will be readily understood.
5 5 A piece of soap J is inserted in the holder, which is placed in position in the cup with the spring-arm I-I engaging with the upper Walls of the cup, whereby the holder is locked in position, it being noted that the diameter of the holder is substantially smaller than that 4 of the interior of the cup, whereby the brush may reach the water, and by reason of the unobstruction of the outer wall the brush cannot catch on any part of the holder, and in addition no places are formed in which dirt, soap, or other impurities can settle, the feet keeping the holder from the bottom and permitting free access for the water, they being within the side wall or rim 0.
It will be evident that various changes may 5 be made by those skilled in the art which will come within the scope of my invention, and I do not, therefore, desire to be limited in every instance to the exact construction herein shown and describedas, for example, the standard with the holder-or, in other words, the'bottom, sides, feet, standards, and spring-catch can all be made out of one piece of metal.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a soap-holder for a shaving-cup, a bottom, a side wall, the outer side of which is unobstructed, feet secured to said bottom, and a standard having a portion thereof adapted to 5 embrace the edge of the cup.
2. In a soap-holder for a shaving-cup, a bottom, a side Wall, feet secured to said bottom,
a standard rising therefrom, a spring-arm connected with said standard, and a finger-piece 7 on said spring-arm.
SAMUEL EHMAN.
