PATENT OFFICE.
ARCHIE D. ROBINSON, OF PITTSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
MEMORANDUM-PAD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 773,594, dated November 1, 1904.
Application filed June'8, 1903- Serial No. 160,569. (No model.)
To a, whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ARCHIE D. ROBINSON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsfield,in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Memorandum-Pads, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates more particularly to blank books employed for memoranda purposes. I
The object of the invention is to provide an extremely-simple structure that can be manufactured at small cost and will contain a plurality of detachable coupons or stubs in connection with permanent memoranda-leaves so combined therewith that memoranda can be conveniently kept of all necessary matters jotted down or placed upon the coupons. At the same time the two sets are entirely independent, so that one will not in any manner interfere with the other, yet both are bound together, being inclosed and protected by the SdIDQ Covers.
The invention will be readily understood by reference to the illustration in the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective view of the book.
As therein shown, oblong hingedly-connected covers 1 are employed, that may be of any desired structure, one of said covers preferably having a pocket 2 in its inner side. Between the upper ends of these covers is bound a set of memoranda-le'aves 3, suitably numbered and of the full thickness of the book. Another and entirely independent. set of detachable leaves 4: is bound between the covers 1 below the permanent Inemoranda-leaves 3. This set 4: is provided with transversely-disposed spaced rows of perforations 5, that subdivide said leaves into detachable sections or coupons. Preferably there are an equal number of leaves in the sets, so that one leaf of the memoranda set may be employed for keeping the record of the sections of the corresponding detachable leaf, and therefore a permanent account may be conveniently kept of the latter. It Will also be observed that while both sets are secured by a common binding and protected by common covers they are entirely separate and either may be examined-Without in any manner interfering With the other. By this means, therefore, the objects mentioned in the preliminary portion of this specification are accomplished, and While the illustrated arrangement is believed to be the preferable one nevertheless changes may be made in the size, proportion, and details without departing from the scope of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
In a book, the combination with the covers, of a set of permanent memorandumleaves bound between the upper ends of the covers, and another set of leaves separate from and bound between the covers below the first- .mentioned set, the leaves of the latter set being provided With transverse lines of perforations, subdividing said leaves Into detachable sections.
ARCHIE D. ROBINSON.
