Description

@uitrit teies, stent @ffice L etternPetent No.v76,996, dated April 21, 1868.
IMPROVBD AUTOMATIC FLY-BRUSH AND PAN.v
tite thehule referto tu in tigen etttts atent mit making gint nf its tante.
T0 ALL WHOM` IT MAY CONCERN- Beit known 'that I, ELIJAH, J'. CLARK, of Kalamazoo, in thecountyof Kalamazoo, vand in the State of Michigan, have i'nvented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Fly-Brush and Fan and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and .exact description thereof, reference being had to thc accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon. p
In the annexed drawings,making a part of this speci'cation, A represents a suitable base, and B a post or standard secured thereto. C represents a suitableframe,i adjusted or secured to the top of the post oltstandard B.
Adjusted across theframe C are shaftslhg, h, andj'. :1s shon'n vin the drawings. 1
Upon the Winding-shaft D is secured a.' drive or gear-wheel, L, and suitable ratchet-Wheel, to ,prevent the same from turning backward when wound up.
, M represents am'ain spring, which gives power and motion to the nllachinefone end of whichis stationary,
and the other attached to the winding and driving-shaft D. The large gear-wheel, L, meshes kwith a pinion on the shaft'g, on whichA is secured the cog-wheel K. Secured to the shaft t is `a pinion and a ca m, l, around which the arm. of the Veye F fits and works. Secured lto and projecting from the middle of the shaftj is an arm or ever, 2:, which is pivoted to the arm F.
'On or to each end of said shaft are secured long rdsor .'trl ns,ff, to the bottom of which are-fastened fans, H H', made in the form substantially as represented,4 and of any material desired.
When the shaft hrevolves, the cam Zgves motion to the arm or rod F, and it in turn to the lever a: and shaft j.
I The shaftj, when operated as above, gives n vibratorymotion to"the rods or arms ff and fans H H, .and
thereby makes a very effective und desirable H v-brush or fan. v
Having thus fully described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is-
The arrangement of the shaft t,.ca m Z, an`d looped rod F', in combination with the shaftj, 'rodsff, and fans H H, all constructed and operated as engi for the purposes set forth. p
In testimony thatI claim the foregoing,I have hereunto set niy hand and seal, this 6th day of March, 1868.
