CHARLES A. ROSBURG, OF GREENE, IOIVA.
DISPLAY-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 769,569, dated September 6, 1904.
Application filed June 7, 1904.
To all whom it mmty concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. Rosnmze, a citizen of the United States, residing at (1: reene, in the county of Butler and State of Iowa, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a display hanger or holder for fur goods, more especially to such articles as muffs and collars, boas or scarfs, the object being to present such articles to view in the most attractive manner either in a show-window or in the store proper.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents an elevation of my improved dis play-hanger. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line a a. Fig. 3 is a detail view.
The numeral 1 indicates a shelf or rest, preferably circular in form and held normally in a horizontal position. Sockets 2 are fastened to its upper surface a suitable distance apart in a diametrical direction in which the lower ends of a shelf-support and muffholder 3 are seated. On the under side of the shelf are sockets 4:, similar to those 2 and beneath them, from which the collar, boa, or scarf carrier 5 is suspended.
6 indicates a price-holder, made, preferably, of metal, the front end of which is turned at a right angle for the reception of a tag on which the price of the article or articles will be written. A guide '7 is secured to the under side of the shelf or rest 1, into which the price-holder is slipped.
The shelf-support 3 is made by preference of a length of wire doubled on itself, as at 8, and bent into a hook 9, by means of which the device is suspended. Below the hook the two strands of wire are given a spiral twist 10 of indefinite length, after which the strands are bent in opposite directions at right angles to the twisted portions, as at 11, and then downwardly, their lower ends 12 being turned outwardly to enter the sockets 2 on the shelf 1.
The carrier 5, like the shelf-support 3, is formed of a length of wire bowed at its midlength to form a loop 13, each end being then curved rearwardly in a semicircle 14: and then Serial No. 211,545. (No model.)
I up to the shelf 1, where a rearwardly-projecting stop-finger 16 is formed by bending the wire strand upon itself, as shown in Fig. 3, and linally turning the end of each strand outwardly to pivot in the sockets 1.
The support 3 and carrier 5 are both held in their respective sockets 2 and 1 by the spring of the wire, but may be easily removed when pressed inwardly. The stop-fingers l6 prevent the carrier from swinging rearwardly under the weight of an article placed thereon.
The articles are displayed by passing the support 3 through the muff, which will rest on the shelf, and the scarf or other article hung on the carrier 5. The hook 9 is then suitably supported from a cord or other hanging means.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and useful is 1. In a display-hanger, the combination of a horizontally-disposed shelf or rest, a support removably connected at its lower end to said shelf and having a hook at its upper end, and a carrier pivoted to the under side of said shelf and having a rearwardly-extending finger.
2. In a display-hanger, the combination of a horizontally-disposed shelf or rest, a hanging support pivoted to the upper side of said shelf, a carrier also pivoted to said shelf on its under side and having a rearwardly-projecting stop-linger, and a price-card holder removably attached to said shelf.
3. In a display-holder, the combination of a flat shelf or rest, sockets on its opposite sides, a support for said shelf removably attached to the sockets on the upper side of said shelf, a hooked-shaped carrier having stoplingers, and projections, the latter adapted to enter the sockets on the under side of said shelf, and a price-card holder removably fitted to a guide on said shelf.
In testimony whereof I. aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES A. ROSBURG.
