PATENTBD AUG. 23, 1904.
T. FLEMING.
TRANSFER TRUCK.
APPLICATION funn nso. 2a. 1903.
F0 MODEL.
UNITED STATES Patented August 23, 1904.
THOMAS FLEMING, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO FRANK C. CARROL, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
TRANSFER-TRUCK.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 768,275, dated August 23, 1904. Application iledDecemher 23, 1903. Serial No. 186,324. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
and cheapen the construction shown in said prior application and to improve it by providing means for raising the truck-platform very rapidly.
In the drawings, Figure lis a side elevation of a transfer-truck embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is an end view thereof when the truckplatform is in its lowest position.- Fig. 3 is an end view thereof when the truck-platform is in the highest position. Fig. 4 is an end view of the platform-raising mechanism when the platform is lifted to an intermediate position, a portion of the lifting-eccentric being broken away in this view to show themeans for holding the shaft against rotation in the direction to lower the platform. Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the rear, end of the truckY when the platform is held in an intermediate position.
Referring to the parts by letters, A represents the running-gear of the truck, and B the truck platform, having depending legs which operate in guide-recesses inthe r'unning-gear.
C represents a turn-table which is mounted upon the truck-platform and which supports the swinging platform, D.
E represents the tray having wheels or rollers supported upon said swinging platform.
form. To this shaft eccentrics H are secured,
which eccentrics engage with friction-rollers Z2', carried by the truck-platform.
g represents alever by means of which the shaft G may be turned. By so turning the shaft the eccentrics by their engagement-with said friction-rollers lift the truck-platform and the parts carried thereby, said platform being prevented from tipping out of a hori- Zontal position during its upward or downward movement by the guide-legs on its under side and theguides in the running-gear with which they engage. The platform may be raised to any intermediate height between the high and low limits and may be held in such intermediate position by means of apawl K, pivoted to they running-gear, in engagement with aratchet-wheel g on the shaft G..
Having described my invention, I claim-' l. The combination with the running-gear, of a truck having vertical guides, Aand a vertically-movable truck-platform having legs vengaging in said guides, of a shaft rotatably mounted upon the running-gear, and eccentrics secured to said shaft for raising the truck-platform, friction-rollers carried by the truckplatform and bearing upon the peripheries of said eccentrics, substantially as land for the purpose specified. p
2. The combination with therunning-gear of atruck having vertical` guides, and a vertically-movable truck -platform having legs engaging in said guides, of a shaft rotatably mounted upon the running-gear, eccentrics secured to said shaft for raising the truck-platform, a lever'for operating the same, aratchetwheel secured to said shaft, and a pawl pivoted to the running-gear, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of witnesses.
Witnesses:
ALBERT H. BATES, E. L. THURsToN, B. W. BRooKETT-` THOMAS ELEMING.
