SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 765,737, dated July 26, 1904.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY FRANCIS KEIL, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Bronxville, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Handle, of which the following is a specification, the same being a full, clear,and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to articles constructed and arranged to be grasped by the hand in using or moving objects, and in particular to handles or pulls ordinarily designated by builders as window-pulls, door-pulls, drawer-pulls, and store-door handles; and it has for its object the production of an article made of metal in such a manner as to be readily assembled in order to provide a strong, durable, and ornamental although inexpensive handle.

With this object in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination and arrangement of parts, all of which will be hereinafter described,and specifically pointed out in the drawings which accompany and form a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my handle as used for store-doors. Fig. 2 is a detail of the bar of my handle. Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views of the end pieces or brackets thereof, and Figs. 5 and 6 are details in section showing the manner in which my bar and the end brackets are assembled together.

Like letters of reference indicate like parts in all the views.

Referring particularly to the drawings, A denotes a preferably solid metal bar constituting the body of my handle, the said bar and the fancy or ornamental ends A thereof being all of onepiece. Intermediate the bar A and the ends A are formed necks a. The bar-body A, ornamental ends A, and intermediate necks c are of graduated diameter, the neck-pieces being preferably thinner than the1 bar-body and thicker than the ornamental enc s.

The end pieces or brackets B, which may be of any suitable form or construction, are each made with an orifice b, constructed and arranged to be smaller in diameter than the body of the barA and larger in diameter than the ends A and to register with the neck a, which latter is preferably made a little longer than the thickness of the metal of the bracket B.

In order to assemble the parts, the end A of the bar A is passed through the orifice 6 of the end pieces or brackets B, the end of the neck projecting for a little distance through the end piece or bracket, as shown in Fig. 5. The projecting end or outer edge of the neckpiece is then rounded off by being spun or otherwise forced over or onto the bracket B along the edge surrounding the orifice b, as at a in Fig. 6, a rigid and permanent joint being thus formed.

As it is evident that many changes in the construction, form, proportion, and relative arrangement of parts might be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, I would have it understood that I do not restrict myself to the particular construction and arrangement of parts shown and described, but that such changes and equivalents may be substituted therefor, and that WhatI claim as my invention is In a pull or handle, a bar consisting of three sections, a body portion, ornamental ends thereof and intermediate necks, the sections being each of diflerent diameter, in combination with brackets or end pieces therefor, each provided with an orifice smaller than the bar-body and larger in diameter than the end thereof and constructed and arranged to register with the neck-piece, the top of the neck-piece being spun or forced over onto the said bracket.
