SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 764,772, dated July 12, 190%,
Application filed January 13, 1904. Serial No. 188,930. No modeh) To (LU whom it may concern.-v
Be it known that 1, FIERMAN GUs'rAF VICTOR RYDAHL, a subject of theKing' of Sweden and Norway, and a resident of Stockholm, Sweden, have invented new and useful improvements in Fireproof Skeleton Floorings. of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the drawing accompanying and formin a part hereof.
This invention relates to improvements in fireproof skeleton fioorings consisting of iron or cement beams of I shaped cr(' ss-section and cast hollow blocks inserted between said beams.
The object of the invention is to obtain floorings which are strong and cheap and at the same time present smooth and flat floor and ceiling surfaces above and below the beams.
'lheinvention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing 1. have shown a vertical section of a part of fireproof liooring. Referring to the drawing, blocks 2, of cement or other similar inateriahare inserted be tween iron or cement beams l. of Iii-shaped cross-section, the said beams beingpreterably coated by a. sound-deadening; material v for instance, pasteboard or the. like. The said blocks rest direct on the lower flanges of the beams or on the said coating by means of the upper sides of grooves 23, provided at the bottom of the block ends. blocks are at their ends supplied with comparatively largo [lat surfaces 4, by means of which the blocks bear against the web of the beams or against the aforesaid (-overin At the tops of the ends the blocks are b veled in Fiu'thermore, the" order to enable the blocks beingeonveniently inserted between the beams. Finally, the upper and under sides of the blocks are flat, and
the blocks are of such a thickness that with thcir'upper and under sides they iorm smooth and fiat floor and ceiling surfaces, which extend both above and below the beams.
Having-now particularly described my invention and in what manner the same may he performed, what i claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is w 1. In a fireproof skeleton flooring the combination, ot'I-shaped beams, and holiow blocks inserted between said beams, the said blocks resting at their ends directly on the lower flanges of the beams, hearing by c:miparatirely large flat surfaces against the web of the beams, being" beveled at the tops of their ends, extendin above and below the said beams, and presenting even floor and ceiling surfaces, substantially as and' for the purpose set forth.
2. In a fireproof skeleton flooring the combination of Lshaped beams, a'smindalcadenin; material surroumling said beams, and hollow blocks inserted between said beams, the said blocks resting at their ends on the lower flanges of the beams, bearing by comparatively large fiat surfaces against the web ofthe beams. being beveled at the tops oi their ends, extending); above and below the said beams, and presenting even floor and ceiling surfaces, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
in testimony \i'hercoi l have signed my name to this specification in the presence of twosnbscribing witnesses.
