Description

Patented July 5, 1904.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MANUEL CARRANCO GAMA, OF TACUBAYA, MEXICO, ASSIGNOROF ONE- HALF TO ENRIQUE HEUER, OF MEXICO, MEXICO.
ARTIFICIAL FUEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 764,526, dated July 5,1904. Application filed April 20, 1904. .Serial No. 204,100. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MANUEL CAnRANeo GAMA, a citizen of the Republic of Mexico, re-
siding at Tacubaya, District Federal, Republic of Mexico, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Artificial Fuels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to artificial fuels; and it consists of the ingredients mixed substantially in the proportions as stated and by the method or process hereinafter explained.
The object of the invention is to provide an artificial fuel which possesses advantages over other fuels or fuel mixtures in respect to economy,-weight, volume, and heating power.
The mixture is as follows: crude oil, the unit of measure; residuum of refined oil equal to the quantity of crude oil; tallow, one-tenth to one-fifth of the quantity of crude oil; sawdust or its equivalent, such as horse or cow dung, being one-fifth of the quantity of crude oil; coal-dust,one-tentl1 0f the quantity of crude. oil, and caustic soda one-tenth of the quantity of crude oil; all of the ingredients measured by weight. These ingredients are 5 thoroughly mixed and then placed in a suitable vessel over an active fire for one or two hours, in which time they are thoroughly incorporated and form themselves into a solid pasty mass, like stifi' dough, in which state the 3 fuel is ready for use. It will not liquefy or run, although it adapts itself to any form which may be desirable to give it.
1%Iaving described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters 35 Patent, is
An artificial fuel consisting of crude oil, residuum from refined oil, tallow, sawdust, coaldust and caustic soda, mixed substantially in the proportions named and by the method as 4 specified.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
MANUEL CARRANCO GAMA.
