PATENT OFFICE.
CLE-ARER FOR RING-SPINNING FRAMES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 762,163, dated June '7', 1904.
Application filed January 15, 1904. Serial No. 189,134. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM HENRY GOR- DON, residing at Fall River, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Olearers for Ring-Spinning Frames, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of devices which are designed to keep the top rolls on ring-spinning frames free from fly and dirt; and its object is to provide means obviating removal ordetachment of the clearerboard from the roll-stand or other means of Support.
The invention resides in peculiar hinging means adapting the clearer-board to be lifted for inspection and cleaning, which means shall not only support the clearer-board at turned-up position, but be adapted for attachment to any type of drawing-roll support now commonly used on ring-spinning frames.
In the following description of my invention reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a transverse vertical sectional view through the rolls and clearer-board, the latter being shown turned down to normal position; and Fig. 2 is a similar View, but with the clearer-board shown at turned-up position.
Drawing-rolls and clearers therefor being well understood in the spinning art, it becomes necessary for a full understanding of my invention to illustrate its use only with one form of drawing-rolls.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, A denotes any suitable form of clearer-board; B, the roll-stand; O, the steel rolls; D, leather rolls; E F, hinge members whereby the clearer is secured to the leather rolls supporting casting G, and H the clearer-cloth.
The hinge member E may consist of a simple eyebolt with its shank extended through the casting Gr and be secured by a nut on the under side of said casting or consist of an integral eye on said casting. The eye of the bolt or member E being above the casting G is adapted for receiving the hook-shaped end I on the member F, which latter is formed with a rear heel J, adapted for contacting with the casting Or when the clearer-board is sufficiently elevated, and thereby stop further hinge action of the members E F. The hinging connection of the clearer-board is so located on the casting G that when turned up, as shown in Fig. 2, it will be out of the way.
Should it become necessary to remove the clearer-board, obviously the same may be accomplished by simply unhooking the member F from the member E.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A clearer-board for ring-spinning frames having a detachable hinge connection with a suitable support.
2. The combination with a clearer-board, of hinge-acting securing means, one thereof having a hook-shaped end, and the other being adapted for receiving said hook-shaped end.
3. The combination with a clearer-board, of hinge-acting securing means, one thereof having a hook-shaped end, and the other being in the form of an eye, substantially as described. I
4. The combination with a clearer-board of hinge-acting securing means, one thereof having a hook-shaped engaging end and a stopping-heel, and the other being in the form of an eyebolt, substantially as described.
WILLIAM HENRY GORDON.
