To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS WIDDOP, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Burnt-v fork, in the county of Sweetwater and State of Wyoming, have invented newand useful Improvements in Glaziers Tools, of which'the following is a specification.
My invention has relation to improvements in glaziers tools; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed outin the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurel 1 is a perspective view showing the manner in which my tool is employed in placing a single glaziers point in position upon a side'strip of a sash; and Fig. 2 isa side elevation of the tool, showing the manner of' using the same in applying a point to an intermediate cleat of the sash. l
Referring to the figures of the drawings by numerals of reference, 1 1 are jaws, formed of any suitable metal, which are pivoted together and provided with shanks 2, one of which has a `squared, upper end, as shown at 3, and a spring 4 is preferably interposed between the two Shanks, so as to hold the jaws 1 1 normally separated. The terminal ends of the jaws are angularly cut away within said ends to forma rectangular recess 5,saidrecess being constructed to conform tothe .configuration of the putty-strips of the window-sash, so as to clamp a sash-point to the. upper edge and sides of the putty-strip tov hold the panes of' window-glass in position. v
This tool is adapted to be used in connection with glaziers points such as described in my application for patent of` even date herewith, and said points are preferably formed of retaining-plates f6, having angular extensions 7 and inwardly-extending prongs 8. Two forms of points are employed, one for use upon the side rails of a window-sash, as
' shown in Fig. 1, and the other for use uponv the intermediate putty-strips ofthe window-VV sash, as shown in Fig. 2. Where the point is to be used in connection with a side strip, the plate 6 is placed on the glass, and the prong extending from said plate is forced into the strip by driving the squared end 3 of ness of the cleat.

It will be seen that the device is extremely simple and inexpensive in construction and is of great convenience in fastening points such as herein described to window-sashes.
In the foregoing description I have shown the preferredy form of my invention; but I do not limit myself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing 'from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof, vand I therefore re.- serve the right to make such `changes as fairly fall within the scope of my invention.
Having thus described the invention, what isclaimed as new is-V A glaziers tool comprising spring-actuated jaws pivoted together, one of which is provided with a squared upper end, the jaws also having angular cut-away portions at their lower ends on their inner opposing faces to form a rectangular recess within said ends,l said recess being constructed to conform to the conguration of the putty-strip of a window-sash to secure a sash-point to the upper edge and sides of said putty-strip which serves to hold the pane of glass between the puttystrips of a window sash, substantially as specified.
