To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I ADOLPH E. SOHROEDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at BoZel, in the county of Pawnee and State of -Kansas, have invented new and useful Im- The chief characteristic of this invention resides in the provision of a device of the above described character which is in the form of a hammer, the head of the hammer being provided with inclined faces and shoulders, either of the shoulders being engageable with the point while the rnollned faces permit the tool to be held in convenient position for striking the pomt to force the same into the sash.
Another characteristic of this invention 1s to provide a device of the above descrlbed character which is reversible to permit the tool to be used in applying the glaziers point upon any part of the window sash without the liability of injuring the glass in any manner.
Another characteristic of this invention 1s to provide a device of this character which contains the desirable features of simpllcity, durability and efiiciency and furthermore a device which may be manufactured at a nominal cost.
Other characteristics of the invention will appear as the specification is read in connection with the accompanying drawings 111 which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device constructed in accordance with my invention.

Referring to the drawings in detail, my invention comprises a head indicated by A and a handle B, the head is provided at its medial portion with a socket which receives one end of the handle B, any suitable means is em loyed for securely retaining the handle within the socket. The head is tangular in cross section, the material of which the head is constructed being; of any sultable. metal to obtain the result for which it-is intended. One end of the 7' head is formed with means for driving the glazier point within the Window sash the said means comprising the inclined side wallsl, the said walls diverging from the inner edge to the outer edge of the head on a line diagonal with respect to the said walls of the head as is clearlyillnstrated in the drawings.
It will be evident that by providing th head at one end with inclined side walls, there is produced the triangular end 2. The triangular end 2 is provided with a reduced end portion 3, the side walls of the reduced portion being inclined transversely as at 4, the said reduced portion providing shoulders 5. The opposite ends of the head A or that portion which is upon the opposite side of the handle is tapered from the handle to the free end thereof and has it outer ends in this instance rovided with the glass cut-' ting means 6 w ich i mounted in one of a plurality of inwardly extending recesses some of which constitute the breaking mean 7 In operation the glazier points are applied to the window sash in the usual manner so as to lie upon the pane of glass, then the tool is placed upon the pane of glass in such a manner as to cause one of the inclined sidesl to engage the surface of the glass, the handle B being disposed at an an 1e to the glass to permit the proper manipu ation of the tool in driving the glaziers point into the window sash. It will be evident that when the tool is in the position above stated, one of the shoulders 5 may be engaged with the edge of the glaziers point and that upon moving the tool the point will be driven into the window sash to securely retain the pane within the sash as will be understood. In providing the opposite side of the head A with the inclined side walls 1, the tool may be reversed so as to present the opposite inclined side to the surface of the glass whereupon it will be seen that this tool may be used for the driving of points upon either side of the window sash. By tapering the opposite end of the head A as has been described, this portion of the head is prevented from contacting with the of elongated formation andsubstantially recsurface of the glass when using the tool for driving the glaziers point within the'win dow sash, whereby it will be seen that the liability of the head contacting and breaking the glass during the driving operation will be eliminated.
The cutting and breaking means for the glass which is formed on one end of the head A as has been described is adapted to What I claim is As a new article of manufacture, a glaziers hammer head having a central portion of rectangularshape in cross section and opposite side Walls converging toward each other from said central portion toward one end of the head, the mentioned end of the head having a plurality of notches therein, a right angular triangular shaped beveled face oneach of said side Walls upon the opposite side of said central portion providing the head with a striking end the opposite side edges of which converge from the back to the front of the head, and a reduced extension on the striking end of said head corresponding in shape with the striking end of the head.
