Description

No. 760,028. PATENTED MAY 17, 1904.

FISHING TACKLE.

PATENT OFFICE.
WVTLLIAM W. SHULEAN, OF ISANTI, MINNESOTA.
FISHING-TACKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 760,028, dated May 17, 1904.
Application filed February 8, 1904. Serial No. 192,486. (No model.)
10 a/LZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. SIIULEAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Isanti, in the county of Isanti and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fishing-Tackle, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in fishing-tackle, its object being to provide an improved artificial troller; and it consists particularly of a fish-shaped plate provided with different features of turbine construction to give the most efficient revolving motion.
To this end my invention consists in the features of construction and combination hereinafter particularly described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved troller, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation with the hooks and the line connection removed.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a fish-shaped plate, preferably of brass. The plate is formed at the head with fins 2 and 3, oppositely bent away from the body to give a turbine effect. The tail ends 4: and 5 are similarly bent. To the sides of the plate are loosely connected hooks 6 and 7 the point of connection of the hook 6 being nearer the head than the point of connection of the hook 7 and the sides of the plate being irregularly shaped, as shown. Loosely connected with the tail is a rearwardly-extending hook 8, and similarly connected with the head is a forwardly-extending swivel 9, to which the fishline is adapted to be connected.
In passing through the water the turbine construction of the apparatus will cause the device to rapidly revolve in the water to accomplish the purposes of the invention. An advantage of the position of the side books is that the hooks will not be in a position to become entangled.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A troller of the class described, consisting of a plate having at its head a pair of fins oppositely bent away from the body of the plate, the sides of the tail end of the plate being similarly bent, and a pair of hooks connected with the opposite sides of said plate, one of said hooks being secured to the plate closer to the head than the opposite hook.
2. A troller of the class described, consisting of a plate having irregular sides, a pair of fins carried by one endof the plate and oppositely bent away therefrom, a tail portion at the opposite end of the plate having its sides similarly bent, a pair of hooks hinged to the sides of the plate, one at a greater distanoe from the head than the other, and a hook similarly connected with the tail portion of the plate.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
WILLIAM W. SHULEAN.
Witnesses OLVINIE B. OLsoN, WILFRED D. OL'ESON.
