Be it known that I, GEORGE W. (lAItPEh'DlEIt,-0` Jarvisu-De 'Kalb county, State gf Indiana, have invented certain newfand useful Improvements in Gombinerl Weather-Strip and-Alarm for Doors; and 4do hereby` declare that'the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being-had tothe ucco1npany ing drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
In the annexed drawings, A represents the door, which is of any ordinary description, and attached to the frame Connected to `the lower `edge of thel door isa. metal plate, C, which is made to project beneath the lower edge of the door, in the usual manner. The sill is rabbeted and providedl withl e strip of'metahgfrunning its entire length, `so when'thedooris closed the plate C falls nf its own iveightand lies outsideofl thestrip g to prevent the ingress of water, dirt, &c. It will be seen' that my invention is'intended for the double purpose of' preventing lthe water, cold, dirt, Src.,
from entering the house, and at the same time to alarm the inmates when any one enters. When the door is closed, the edge of the frame keeps the outer point of the plate D down close tothe edge of the door, and as. the door is opened the metal plate g forces the cam ofthe plate D upwards in the `keeper o, thus causing the rod E to be drown', down, bringing down with it the plate F, which, catching under the lug as, in the cam Cr,
draws lsaid cam partially around-'depressing the spring, and rings the bell bythe point of the plete F sliding otf of its lug.
