PATENTED APR. 19, 1904..
1). D. MILLER. PIOKER MOTION FOR Looms.
APPLICATION FILED OUT. 26. 1003 NO MODEL.
WITNESSES 2 INVENT BY 1 f ATTORNEYS- UNITED STATES Patented April 19, 1904.
PATENT OFFICE.
PlCKEFF-MOTION FOP! LOOMS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 757,828, dated April 19, 1904.
Application filed October 26, 1903.
To all whom it may concern:
- Be it known that 1, DAVID DAVIDSON MIL- LER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Middletown, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented cer- Motions for Looms; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art. to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawing, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The object of this invention is to improve the meansfor operatively connecting a loom picker-stick with its lug-strap, so that adjustment can be readily effected, and to furthermore accomplish this purpose without prov ducing a mechanism which is complicated, cumbersome, expensive to manufacture, troublesome to attach, and liable to jar loose.
In the single figure of the accompanying drawing my invention is shown as operatively applied to a picker-stick and its lug-strap, the whole appearing in front elevation. y
In the drawing, ais the picker-stick, and Z the lug-strap, the same having a loop 0, which embraces the pickenstick. On the edge d of the picker-stick which is the farther from the power is secured, as by screws 8 or the like, a bracket consisting of a metallic plate f, having its end portions g turned off in'the same direction at right angles. In this bracket and preferably parallel with the edge d of the picker-stick is mounted a rod it. Onthe rod, is secured, as hereinafter described, a loope', preferably made of metal and through which the loop 0 of the strap 6 extends. Loope' is by preference disposed between therod-e' and the body part of the bracket f, so that under the pull of the strap said l'oop may take up against the bracket.
I preferably make the rod it as a bolt having a head 1', which takes against the outer face of one of the parts 9 of the bracket, and with two nuts 70, which take against opposite faces of the other part g, and thus clamp the rod securely to the. bracket. The rod is threaded "ments is possible.
more or less to receive thenuts 7c and alsoso Serialllo. 178,485. (NomodelJ as to aiford means for adjusting the loop 11, which is preferably secured to the rod by having its ends, which said rod penetrates, clamped between nuts Z, screwed onto the threaded portion of therod. .tain-new and useful Improvements in Picker.-
My improved means for operatively conmeeting the picker-stick and its lug-strap has many advantages, not the least among which is the fact that an indefinite variety of adjust- It is light and durable in construction, involves relatively little expense to manufacture, and owing to its fewness of parts and general construction is capable of being readily assembled and makes of itself no objectionable projection on the pickerstick. I
I do not wish to be limited to. the precise construction herein show'nand described; but
What I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'
1. The combination of the picker-stick, the lug-strap, and means for connecting the lug strap to the picker-stick so as to be adjustable longitudinally of the latter, said means comprisinga bracket secured to the picker-stick and having spaced projecting portions disposed the one above the'othen a rod extending longitudinally of the picker stick and mounted in said projecting portions, and a device directTy engaged by the lug-strap and i connected to the rod for adjustment longitudinally thereof, said device being disposedbetween said projecting portions, substantially "as described.
H 2. The combination of the picker stic'k the "lug-strap, and means for connecting said liig strap to the picker-stick so as to be adjustable longitudinally of the latter, said means comprising a rod extending longitudinally of the picker stick, means, engaging said rod at spaced points thereon, for securing said rodto the picker-stick, and a device directly engaged by the lug-strap and connected to the rod for adjustment longitudinally thereof between its points of engagement with said securing means, substantially as described. I I '3'. The combination of the picker-stick, the
lug-strap, a threaded rod extendinglongitw' dinal'ly of the picker-stick, a bracket having spaced'projecting portions arranged the, one
- above the other, said rod being mounted in said In testiniony that I claim the foregoing I projecting portions, a loop receiving the lug-' have hereunto set my hand this-22d (lay of O0- strap and penetrated by said rod and disposed tober, 1903.
