To alt whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J OHN AULD, a citizen of the United-States, residing at Hamden, in the county of Delaware and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Bottle; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full,` clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The invention relates to a bottle; and it has for its object to provide a simple, ineX- pensive, and efficient one-adapted after it has received its original contents to eectually prevent fraudulent refilling and sale as an original package and adapted when opened to be sufficiently mutilated to enable such facts to be readily ascertained at a glance, whereby adulteration of its Original contents is prevented.

1With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and shown, and particularly pointed out in the claim hereto appended.

In the drawings forming part of this specification, and in which like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a bottle constructed in accordance with this invention.

Fig. 2 is an elevation of a bottle, showing the same before the cap is applied thereto. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the cap.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a bottle provided with a neck having a reduced portion forming a frangible ligament 2, which, as hereinafter explained, is adapted to be readily fractured to enable the upper portion 3 of the neck to be broken off to afford access to a cork or stopper 4, which is fitted in the lower portion 5 of the neck. The frangible ligamentv is formed by an exterior groove, and the upper portion of the neck is provided at the bottom with an exterior rib or annular enlargement 6, forming an upper shoulder or seat and beveled at the under side and adapted to receive a cap 7, which rests upon the seat and upon the upper edge of the neck. ter than the neck of the bottle to provide an intervening space 8, which in practice is filled with cement or other suitable material, and the said space 8, which is closed at the bottom by the annular enlargement 6, confines the cement. The 'annular enlargement prevents access to the cement, which cannot, therefore, be removed by a tool, and access to the contents of the bottle can be had only by breaking oif the neck. l

The upper portion of the neck is provided above the annular enlargement with annular ribs-9, triangular in cross-section and forming beveled upper faces and horizontal lower faces or' shoulders, and the cap is provided on the interior of its side walls with ribs l() and 11. The rib 10, which is located between the top and bottom of the cap, is triangular in crosssection and forms a horizontal upper shoulder nd an inclined or beveled lower shoulder or ace.

The lower rib 1l is rectangular in crosssection and provides an upper horizontal shoulder and a broad lower bearing edge to lit upon the annular enlargement 6 of the upper portion of the neck of the bottle, whereby the annular space between the neck and cap is effectively closed at the bottom.

The cap is provided atthe top with a knob orgrip, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawings.

It will be seen that the cap is'securely fastened to the upper portion of the neck and that the intervening cement-receiving space is concealed and access thereto elfectually prevented when the cap is properly put on the bottle.
