Description
No. 757,587. PATENTED APR. 19, 1904.
G.. WILSON. DIVIDBR FOR HARVESTING MACHINES.
APPLIOATION IILEfI JUL! 18, 1903.
H0 MODEL.
UNITED STATES I P tented April 19, E04.
PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE WILSON, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO EMERSON MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, A CORPO- RATION OF ILLINOIS.
DIVIDER FOR HARVESTING-MACHINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 757,587, dated April 19, 1904.
Application filed July 18, 1903- Serial No. 166,203. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WILSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dividers for Harvesting-Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in outer dividers for harvesting machines in which the wing has an adjustable connection with the shoe in a manner to permit its free end to be set at difierent angles with respect to the lengthwise direction of the cutter-bar.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an inner face elevation partly in section. Figs. 2 and 3 are sections on dotted line, Fig. 1, showing the diiferent positions of the wing. Fig. 4k is an isometrical representation of the slidable bar. Fig. 5 is an isometrical repre sentation of the plate 3. Fig. 6 is an isometrical representation of the plate 3 as seen from the face opposite to that shown at Fig. 5.
The shoe 1 is of the usual construction and has the rearward extension 7 To the outer face of the extension 7 is pivoted a plate 3, having a tubular section &, within which is located a conical bushing 5, held in place by the bolt 6, passing through the extension 7 The rear end of the plate 3 has a curved slot 8, leaving a rear bar 10. The tubular section 4: has a series of projections 12 on its outer face. A slidable plate 13 is located over the tubular section 4. of the plate 3, its rear end provided with a lengthwise slot 14 and its forward end provided with a hook 15.
A wing 2 is located over the tubular section 4 and is held in connection with the plate by the hook 9 passing through it and embracing the rear bar 10 and receiving a nut 11 on its screw-threaded end. The forward end of the wing is located in the hooked end of the plate 13. By loosening the bolt 9 the plate 13 can be moved free of the projections 12, which will allow the wing to be moved from the position shown at Fig. 2 into the position shown at Fig. 3, and when the plate is moved between the projections and the hooked bolt again drawn down the wing will be held firmly in place with its free end farther from the standing grain.
I claim as my invention 1. An outer divider for harvesting machines comprising a shoe and wing, and a plate interposed between the shoe and wing having a slidalole connection with the wing and an adjustable connection with the shoe.
2. An outer divider for harvesting machines comprising a shoe and wing, a plate interposed between the shoe and wing having a slidable connection with the wing, and a plate interposed between the first-named plate and shoe and provided with a tubular projection and a series of peripheral projections with which the first-named plate engages.
' GEORGE WI soN.
