SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 755,113, dated March 22, 1904.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ENOS P. CURREY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wellington, in the county of Sumner and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Listing- Plow, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to plows of that class which are known as listing-plows and it has for its object to provide a listing-plow composed of two separate turning-plows-viz., a right-hand and a left-hand plow joined together and specially connected by means of a plow-point of special construction.

- The turning-plows used in connection with my present invention are mainly of the pattern shown and described in my application for Letters Patent of the United States, Serial No. 110,874, filed June 9, 1902. In the said application for Letters Patent I have shown, described, and claimed a turning-plow embodying in its construction a landside, a moldboard, a wear-plate, a share, a supporting-- plate, and a point, all suitably constructed and.

related with regard to each other. By my present invention the individual plows may be simplified by constructing each of a landside having a supporting-plate, a wear-plate, and

a share or blade of thin hard steel clamped between the supporting-plate and the wearplate, each of said plows being adapted to he used in connection with a single point or, when the device is to be used as a lister, witha double point, which, in conjunction with auxiliary connecting means, serves to firmly unite the plows for listing purposes.

With these and other ends in view, all of which tend toward the production of a device ofthe class described which shall possess superior advantages in point of simplicity, durability, and general efficiency, my invention consists in the improved construction, ar-

rangement, and combination of parts, which will hereinafter befully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of a listing-plow constructed in accordancev with my invention. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the same; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the point detached. Fig. I is a bottom planview of the point detached,

Corresponding parts in the several figures are indicated by similar numerals of reference. In the accompanying drawings, 1 and 2 designate, respectively, a right and a left hand plow assembled and connected to form a lister. Each of these plows, as will be seen by reference to Fig. 5 of the drawings, is composed of a landside 3, having an outwardly-extending wing 4, which is shaped like a moldboard and which constitutes the supporting-plate of the plow.

As is the case in my former application for patent, to which reference has already been made, the parts of the plow except the landside are preferably constructed of sheet-steel, the weight of which is not excessive, but which is eminently well fitted to resist wear and which may be readily bent into a shape which will present little frictional resistance to the progress of the plow.

It will be observed that the construction of the individual plow as hereinafter described is simpler and contains fewer elements than thedevice shown and described in my former application for Letters Patent; but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the right to construct the individual plow of my present device entirely and strictly in accordance with the construction set forth in said application and that, furthermore, I reserve the right to 'vary the construction to any extent within straps of wrought-iron of suitable dimensions,

' 8 designates the plow-point, which, consists of a forwardly and downwardly tapering bar of iron, upon the upper side of which is secured a plate 9, forming laterally-extending wings or flanges 1O 10, and which is at its lower end double-beveled, so as to form an earth-engaging' point 11 of proper construction. To the under side of the bar 8, at the front end of the latter, is secured a plate 12, between the upper side of which and the under sides of the flanges 10 are formed recesses 14, adapted to receive the points of the plows 1 and 2. When the points of said plows are inserted into the recesses 14, it will be seen that the landsides 3 of the said plows will be spaced apart by the bar 8, with which they are connected by means of a transverse bolt 15. Between the rear ends of the landsides 3 3 may be inserted a washer-plate or spacing-plate 16, which is also to be retained in position by means of a bolt 17 or other suitable connecting means.

It is obvious that handles and a standard are to be provided, which may be connected with my improved listing-plow in any suitable manner. I suggest that the lower end of the plow-standard may be secured between the landsides in the position occupied by the washer-plate 16. Suitable braces will also be provided in order to complete the plow structure.

My improved listing-plow may be used individually, or as a unit or member of a gangplow or in any other manner that may suggest itself, or the right and left hand plows of which it is composed may be used separately, as will be readily understood.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings hereto annexed, the construction and operation of my invention will be readily understood, as well as the advantages accruing from'said construction. The individual plows constituting my improved lister are extremely simple in construction and capable of being manufactured at a very moderate price. When used separately, separate points may be provided for them, although the double point herein shown and described may be successfully used in connection with either the right-hand or lefthand plow. When the plows are assembled to form a lister, their landsides are slightly spaced apart by the intervention of the bar of the point, and the flanges and bottom plate of the latter cooperate to form recesses in which the points of the individual plows are seated and protected. By this I mean that said points being seated in said recesses are protected from dislocation by any obstructions that may be encountered, so that they may out under the soil in a very efiicient manner. The wings or flanges 10 of the top plate 9 of the point will overlap the inner edges of the wear-plates, and consequently no obstruction will be offered to the sliding of the dirt from the point onto the wear-plates and the moldboards above them, whereby it is turned in an outward direction. It will thus be seen that the said point not only serves to space the individual plows l and 2 properly apart, but also serves to assist in connecting the same in such a manner as to insure perfect rigidity and stability of the parts in operation.

It is to be'understood that moldboards may be attached to the upper edges of the supporting-plates abutting against the wearing-plates and the upper edges of the point, making a complete joint and a smooth surface.

I desire it to be understood that while I have in the foregoing described a simple and preferred form of my invention I do not limit myself in regard to the details thereof, but reserve the right to any changes, modifications, and alterations within the scope of my invention and which may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing the utility of the same.

Having thus described my invention, I claim 1 1. A listing-plow composed of right and left hand members, a spacing-bar interposed between the landsides'of said members and provided with sockets to inclose the points thereof, and auxiliary connecting means.

2. In a listing-plow, the combination of right and left hand members, a spacing member interposed between the landsides of the same and constituting a point provided with sockets to inclose the points of said right and left hand members, and auxiliary spacing and connectlng means.

3. In a listing-plow, the combination of right and left hand plow members, including supporting-plates, wearplates and blades forming shares which are reversibly clamped between said supporting-plates and wear-plates, and a point having a bar interposed between the landsides of the right and left hand plow members and provided with sockets receiving the points of the shares of said right and left hand members.

A listing-plow comprising right and left hand plow members provided with blades forming shares frictionally retained in position, between the supporting and wear plates in combination with a point interposed between the landsides of the right and left hand plow members and having sockets for the reception of the points of said shares,
