PORTABLE TOOL OR CEMENT HOUSE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 748,637, dated January 5, 1904.
Application filed September 5, 1903. Serial No. 172,057. (No model.)

Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. MoDorL ALD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Titusville, in the county of Crawford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Portable Tool or Cement Houses, of which improvement the' following is a specication.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in portable tool or cement houses, and relates more particularly to a house which is adapted to be used for tools, cement, or other desired material.
The object of this invention is to provide a tool or cement house which will be watertight and also to so construct the parts that the house may be readily removed from the running-gear and left at any desired place, the running-gear then being free to be used in transporting another house portion. By this arrangement it will be possible to have one running-gear for any number of house portions, as the gear will only be used when a house is being moved. At other times thev house will rest on suitable foundations or skids.
With the above and other objects in view my invention consists in the novel combination and arrangementof parts, which will be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, iu which like numerals of referenceindicate like parts throughout the several views,iu which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved house mounted on the running-gear. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation ofV the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view looking toward the front. Fig. 4 is a sectional plan view of the house portion. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the runninggear.
Referring to the drawings, the referencenumeral l indicates the house portion of the device, the same being preferably built up of matched boards in order that the interior will be kept dry. The roof 2, which is built up in any suitable manner, is curved,whereby to shed the water, and the said roof extends slightly over the rear of the portion l and also over the seat 3, which is formed at the forward end of the portion 1. The portion l has doors 4 4 at the rear, as indicated in Fig. 2, and located on and secured to the under side of the house portion are the blocks 5 5.
The running-gear consists of the forward wheels 6 6 and rear wheels 7 7, the same being connected by the reach-rod 8, which is connected on either end to the holsters 9 l0. Pivotally mounted on the outside ends of the holsters are the yoke-holding members ll, and the blocks 5 5 are so positioned on the tool or cement house portion that they will be on the holsters, and projections l2 on said blocks are adapted to be engaged by the yokes- 1l for the purpose of holding the runninggear and house portion together, pins 14 being inserted in said projections outside the yoke-after the same is in place for the purpose of preventing the accidental displacement of said yoke.
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen how the house portion and running-gear are constructed and connected, and in order to provide a simple and eective means of-withdrawing the running-gear from under the house I employ the four jacks l5, which are secured to the house at points adjacent toits corners. It will be seen that the stems 16 of these jacks being lowered until they rest on the ground the house may then be slightly elevated, whereby the running-gear being disconnected from `the house the said gear may be withdrawn and the jacks attached, whereby the house may be lowered onto any desired rest on which the blocks 5 5 could lie, or, if it was desired, the house could remain supported by the jacks.
When it is desired to move the house, the same is raised by the jacks to a height suliicient to permit the running-gear to pass thereunder and be connected therewith.. v
It will be obvious that the house ycould be covered with tin, tar-paper, or other material, if desired, and that any desired lettering or advertising matter could be placed thereon.
While I have shownV and described jacks for raising and lowering the house, it will be obvious that any desired means could be used IOO instead and that various slight changes may be made in the details of arrangement and construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. In a portable tool or cement house the combination of a Waterproof-house portion, a curved waterproof roof thereon said roof projecting over each end of said house portion a seat located beneath the forward end of said roof, blocks secured on the under side of said house portion a running-gear on the bolsters of which the said blocks are adapted to rest, means for securing said blocks to said b01- ster and jacks secured to the house portion for the purpose of raising and lowering said house portion, substantially as shown and described.

In a device of the character described the combination of a waterproof-house portion, a curved waterproof roof formed thereon said roof extending over the sides of said house portion, a seat formed beneath said roof at the front, doors formed in the rear Wall of the house portion, blocks secured to the under side of said house portion, a running-gear on the holsters of which the said blocks rest, a
