This invention combines an improved method of rubbing the clothes with a. novel dcyice for adjusting the rubbing-blocks to the quantity oi' clothes orsize of them-ticle in the wnsh, nn-dn device for holding the'clothes during the process of washing.

The combination of the hinged blocks EE .withthe hooks m m `end 'levors F F, by which the blocksEE cnn-be lifted out ofthe way when necessary, substantially in the ima-nner described.

4. The arm M, forthe purpose of holding the clothes in place while the rubbing-blocks ure passing over them, substantially as described.
