IMPROVEMENT IN fCULINARY BOILRS.
dite .stimule referat tu in tigers gtrtters jlateut mit mating gaat nf the smits.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, O. POOLE, `oi' Detroit, in the county of Wayne, and State of Michigan, have invented.
a new and improved Culinary Steamer; and I do hereby declare thetthe following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art t'o make and use the same. reference being had t0 the accompanying, drawings, forming part of" this specification.v
This inventionA consists in an arrangement whereby various articles of diet may be cooked by steam at the same time in separate compartments, and in one-and the same boiler, as Iivill proceed to describe.
The drawing represents a vertical section of 'the whole arrangement, showing the stove-boiler, the steamer,
vand the steam-baskets.'
The boiler is made in a rectangular Form, and may be of any desired size. A is the boiler, constructed of tin, with copper bottom, or of any suitable materials.` B Ais a. steamer, the sides and bottom of which are perforated, and in this example of my invention it occupies about two-thirds ofthe upper portion of the boiler, as seen in the drawing. lhis steamer is supported in its place' by a bead on the inside ot` the boiler, as seen at a e. This bead extends around the whole inside of the boiler. C is au upright partition, which divides the boiler into two compartments. D and E are baskets made of perforated metal or wire cloth, which set into the steamer' B side by side. These basketshave {langes around their tops, from which they are suspended on the top ofthe steamer. F is another basket, constructed in the same manner, and which" is sspended by its flange on the bead n in the boiler. Each of these baskets has a cover and loops on its rim for convenient handling,
which loops are marked e. dis the boiler-cover. Should it be desired to use the baskets D and E separatef from each other, a partition, G, (seen in detailed View) may be slipped down ixnto the boiler after removing the steamer B. The ribs which support this partition are seen in the boiler atf. The bottom of the steamer B is concave longitudinally, so that any grease which may find its way to the bottom will be conducted to the middle, and be discharged. from thence into the trough H. This trough or spout has a faucetat the end outside the boiler, las secn at J, from which the liquid is discharged into any vessel placed to receive it.
Water is ofcourse placed in the boiler, and when the boiler'is not used for cooking it can be made available for other purposes, like ordinary stove-boilers. It will thus be seen that various kindsof meatsand vegetables, or other articles of diet, may be cooked at the same time, in separate compartments, and that the steamer and baskets are readily lremoved for cleaning or for other purposes.
What I claim new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with the boiler A, perforated baskets D, E, and F, and removable partitions C and G, the spout H, constructed and arranged substantially as herein described and for the purpose set forth.
' o. POOLE.
