WHEEL-STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 739,344, dated September 22, 1903.
Application filed June 23, 1903. Serial No. 162,742. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. PFEIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Edge wood, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful'Improvements in Wheel-Stands, of which the following is a'specification.
My invention relates to wheel-stands which are employed for guiding or carrying, or both,
the operating connections for signals and switches. I
I will describe a wheel-stand embodying my invention and then point out the novel features thereof in claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view, partly in elevation and partly in vertical section, of a Wheel-stand embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is'a top plan view of the wheel-stand shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of one of the end supports comprised in the wheel-stand. Fig. 4 is a top plan View of one ofthe end supports. Fig. 5 is a side elevation of one of the end supports. Fig. 6 is a detail side elevation of a portion of another wheel-stand embodying my invention.

A designates a wheel-stand, which, as shown here, comprises end supports a a, and intermediate connecting-bars O 0' C 6. .0., according to the number of superimposed rows of pulleys or sheaves B, sometimes called wheels.. The connecting-bars are independent of the end supports and are detachably secured to the end supports. They may be of any length, and the length may be in part determined by the number of wheels B to be placed in a row as Well as the diameter of the wheels. The bars 0 G, &c., are provided with openings, which may be formed by drilling at intervals, as shown at c, Shafts b are provided for the wheels B, and these shafts pass through the openings 0 in the bars. The shafts b may be retained in the openings 0 in any desired manner-as, for
example, by cotter-pins provided at the ends of each shaft or'only at one end of the shaft.
The bars 0 0 &;c., form supports for the Wheels, provided the wheels are loose on the shafts, though, if desired, the Wheels may be fastlon the shafts and the shafts suitably supported from the top bar 0, or the shafts may be supported from the top bar 0 and the wheels by the bars 0' O &c.
The end supports are preferably cast, and, as here shown, each comprises a base a by which the end support is secured in place, an
upright portion a", and a plurality of lugs orrow of pulleys or sheaves an additional lug or projection on each end support and an additional connecting bar is provided. (See Fig. 1.) Each lug or projection a is preferably recessed, as shown at a, toform a seat for the end of a connecting-bar.

What I claim as my invention is- 1. In a Wheel-stand for signal and switch The number of lateroperating connections,the combination ofend supports and independent bars detachably connected with the end supports and forming a support for the wheels.
' 2. In a wheel-stand for signal and switch operating c'on nections,the combination of end supports provided with a plurality of laterally-extending lugs; and bars, forming supports for wheels", detachably connected to the laterally-projecting lugs.
3. In a wheel-stand for signal and switch 1 operating connections,the combination of end supports and bars detachablyconnected with the end supports between which the wheels are located.
4. In a wheel-stand for signal and switch operating connections,the combination of end supports, bars detachably connected with said end supports and shafts for the Wheels extending in openings provided in the said IO bars.
