PATENT OFFICE.
` REBECCA F. MURRAY, OF EMMA, TEXAS.
WINDOW-CURTAIN CLASP AND HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 736,867, dated August 18, 1903.
Application filed November 26, 1902. Serial No. 13 2.939. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, REBECCA F. MURRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Emma,
. in the county of Crosby and State of Texas,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Curtain Clasps and Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved window-curtain clasp and holder adapted to be secured to one side of a window and to be used for securin g the curtain when the same is draped; and it consists in the peculiar construction and combination of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 isV a perspective View of a window-curtain clasp and holder embodying my improvements,
showing the same in use on a draped windowcurtain. Fig. 2 is a similar view of my improved window-curtain clasp and holder on a larger scale.
In the embodiment of my invention I provide a base portion 1, which is here shown as having openings 2 for the reception of nails or screws employed to secure the base to one side of window-casing. A spring-arm 3, which is substantially U shaped, has one end secured to or formed with one end of the base portion 1. From the opposite end of the latter projects an arm 4, at the outer end of which is a detenthook 5, adapted to be engaged and locked by the free end ofthe springarm 3. y
The draped curtain maybe secured by my improved clasp and holder by placing it be tween the base portion 1 and the arm 3 and engaging the latterwith the detent-hook 5, as will be understood. The arm 3 may be readily disengagedfrom the hook 5 when it is desired to release the curtain, so that the same will hang in position to close and across the window.
From the foregoing description, taken. in connection with the accompanying drawings,
the construction, operation, and advantages' prising a base 1 to bear directly against a window-casing, and having openings 2, a detent-hook securely fixed to andextending from one end of the base and a U -shaped torsion spring-arm securely iixed to and extending from the opposite end of the base and adapted to engage and by its resilience become locked by said hook, said hook and said spring-arm extending to one side of the base, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witmesses.
REBECCA F. MURRAY. Vitnesses:
II. B. MURRAY, R. M. WHEELER.
