To all whom, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, GEORGE WVILSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seat-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to support a seat, especially adapted for agricultural purposes, in a manner to adapt it for use by persons of different weights and to give the support more or less elasticity, as may be desired.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation and portions in section of my im proved support. Fig. 2 is a lengthwise section of the adjustable block in connection with the bars. Fig. 3 is an upper face representation of the block.

The casing 1 represents a portion of the bed of a mowingmachine supported upon the axle 2, and from the casting extends a lug 3. To the lug 3 is secured the springbar at, extending upwardly and having aseat 5 secured to its free end. A bar 6 has one end secured to the spring-bar at at the point 7, and its lower end is secured to the lug 3 by the bolt 8, serving to connect the spring-bar. The bar 6 and spring-bar at their point of connection with the lug 3 are held sepa rated by the stationary block 9. A sliding block is located between the bar 6 and springbar 4: and comprises a plate-section 10, having a central depression 11 in one face. Four cornered lugs 12 extend from the plate-section. A central cross-bar 14 overlies the central depression 11, and from the opposite face of the plate depend end bars 13.

The movable block is placed in connection with the bar by the bar passing under the cross-bar 1e and located inside the cornerlugs 12. A plate-spring 15 is located in the central depression 11 and bears against the bar 6, when the parts will appear as shown at Figs. 1 and 2.

\Vhen the movable block is farthest from the seat, great elasticity will be given the spring-bar 4, and as the block is moved nearer the seat less elasticity will be given the springbar and the block will be held in any position it may be placed by the plate-spring 15. By means of this movable block the tension of the spring-bar can bevaried to suit the weight of the driver located in the seat.

I claim as my invention-- 1. A seat-support comprising two bars connected together at one end and their other ends held separated, and a block located between the bars and movable in their lengthwise direction.

2. A seat-support comprising two bars connected together at one end and their other ends held separated, and a block located between the bars having a connection with one of the bars and movable in their lengthwise direction.

3. A seat-support comprising two bars connected together at one end and their other ends held separated, and a block located between the bars having a connection with one of the bars and movable in their lengthwise direction and a spring supported by the block and bearing against one of the bars.
