HARNESS-:ROSETTE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 735,602, dated August 4, 1903. Application filed May 13, 1903. Serial No.156,880. (N model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK E. SHAILOR, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Harness-Rosette; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same,
to and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in
Figure 1, a perspective View of a rosette constructed in accordance with myinvention; Fig. 2, a plan view of the back-plate with rectangular portions removed from opposite sides of the center and cuts made around three sides of said openings preparatory to bending the metal outward to form a loop; Fig. 3, a transverse sectional view of my improved harness-rosette.
This invention relates to an improvement in harness-rosettes, and particularly to the formation of an attaching-loop therefor.
The object of the invention is to form a strong and rigid loop integral with the back; and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described, and particularly recited in the claims.
As in the usual construction, the harness- 3o rosette consists of a face-plate A, a backplate 13, the edges of the face-plate being turned over the edges of the back-plate, and preferably between the plates is a packing disk 0, of paper'or other suitable material. To form the loop, I make two rectangular openings D E on opposite sides of the center leaving a bar F between them. Ithen cut. the back on lines parallel with three sides of the openings D E, forming two U -shaped 40 members G H on opposite sides of the bar F.
These members are then bent outward and the central portions I J brought together, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, thus forming the eye or loop integral with the back and complete in itself, so as to avoid the use of clips or other device to unite the members of the loop. By separating the members to a greater or less extent by the width of the bar F the sides of the loop are more or less bowed, so as to give sufficient rigidity to the loop. It will thus be seen that the loop is formed integral with the back-plate and is complete in itself and does not require the addition of clips or other device for uniting the two members of the loop.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. Aharness-rosette comprisingaface-plate and a back-plate, the back-plate formed with two loops cut from the body of the plate on opposite sides of thecentral portion and bent outward from opposite edges of the said central portion and toward each other, forming an integral loop, substantially as described. I
2. A harness-rosette comprising a face-plate and a back-plate over which the face-plate is turned, the back-plate formed with two rectangular openings arranged on opposite sides of the center, a strip of metal on three sides of said openings cut from the back-plate and turned outward, forming an integral loop, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have'signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK E. SHAILOR.
Witnesses: FREDERIC O. EARLE, CLARA L. WEED.
