TENSlN-BAND FOR BALlNG-PRESSES.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of LetteI'SPatent NO. 728,516, dated May 19, 1903.
` Application filed February 27, 1903. Serial No. 1451363. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Beit known that we, PAUL TRABUE and` Vreference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of thisspec'ication.
Our invention relates to bands surrounding the boxes of baling-presses for service in applying tension to the friction-walls'of the press-boxes; and' the invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, aud pointed out in the claims.
Figure I is a perspective view of a balinging-press box with our band applied thereto. Fig. II is a transverse section taken on line II II, Fig. I, and showing parts of the tension-band in elevation.
A designates the top, and B the bottom, of the baling-press box, and C designates the side friction-walls of the box. The frictionwalls C are located between angle-strips D, secured to the top and bottom of` the pressbox.
l designates cross-bars extending transversely of the top and bottom of the pressbox. These cross-bars are of channel form in cross-section for the purpose of affording a maximum of strength. The cross-bars l are bifurcated at'their endsand project be- -youd the edges of thetop and bottom of the press-box to receive the pivotal connection of single links 2 through means of bolts 3, passed through the ends of the cross-bars and said links.
4 designates bifurcated nuts, in which the links 2 are seated and held by pivot-bolts 5.
6 designates tension-screws 'positioned in the bifurcated nuts 4, with which they have threaded engagement.
7 designates pressure-bars fixed to the friction-walls C and provided centrally with sockets 8, that receive the inner ends of the tension-screws 6. The pressure-bars 7 are the main bodies of the bars into proximity with the angle-strips D, attached to the top and bottom of the-.press-box.
lO'designates pocket-brackets iixed'to the anglestripsD and in which the pressure-bar arms 9 are seated and guide in the movement of said bar inwardly and outwardly in lacquiringthe desired positioning of the friction-walls C. Each of the pocket-brackets is formed with sidek walls l1, that serve to direct-the arms v9 in their movement to prevent lateralV strain on the pressure-bars, while at the same time the arms being coniined between the bases of-the brackets endwise movement of the pressure-bars'either up-` wardly or downwardly isY obviated.
By the construction herein described we the pressure-bars 7 and at the Sametime exert a pull upon the top and bottom cross-bars lthroughthe medium of the connecting-links 2 and bifurcated nuts 4.
We claim as our inventionl. The combination with a baling -press box, comprising a top and bottom and yielding friction-walls,y of cross-bars applied tothe top and bottom of the box and having bifurcated ends, single links pivoted in the bifurcated ends of said cross-bars, bifurcated nuts connecting said links, pressure-bars xed to said friction-walls, and tension-screws seated in said bifnrcated nuts and adapted to bear against said pressure-bars, substantially as set forth. v
2. The combination with abaling-press box having a top and` bottom and friction side walls, pocket-brackets secured to the top and bottom of said b0x,pressurebars secured to said friction-walls and having arms positioned in said pocket-brackets, cross-bars applied to the top and bottom of the press-box, links pivoted to said cross-bars, nuts 'connecting said links, and tension-screws seated in said nuts to bear against said pressure-bars, substantially as set forth.
65 l' provide a tension-band of very simple and efv 3. The combination with abaling-piess box and tensiowsci'ows seated in said nuls to bezu 1o having a top and bottom and friobionsidel against said pressure-bars, substantially as walls, pocket-brackets secured to the top and sel; forth. bottom of said box and having side guide- Walls, pressure-bars secured to said friction- Walls and having arms positioned in saidl pocket-brackets, cross-bars applied to the top In presence ofand bottom of the press-box, links pivoted to I LUTHER TRABUE, Said cross-bars, nuts connecting said links, l J. H. TIETSORT.
