CANDY PU LLINIG OR'fAERTING MACHIN E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 728,075, dated May 12, 1903.
Application filed December l, 1902l Serial No. 133,463. (No model.)
To all whom it may con/cern:
Be it known that we, MILES E. BERRYE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York, JAMES A. KANE, a citizen of the United States, residing atBrooklyn, in the county of Kings, and JOHN E. STENGARD, a subject of the King of Sweden and Norway, residing at New York, in the county of New York, State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in CandyPulling or Aerating Maohines,of which the following is a specification.
By means of this invention the operation of pulling or aerating candy can be effectively accomplished.
This invention resides in suitable mechanism adapted for carrying ontthe above object, the novel features of the invention being Set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which-'- y Figure 1 is a side elevation of adevice embodying this inventionl sectioned along a: Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a plan vjiew of the device sectioned along y y, Fig. l.
The gear-wheel a is provided with the arm or shaft b, carrying the central spools o c,V which can turn freely on the said shaft. The arms e e are fastened to the shaft b and carry the rotating armsm, vwith spools ff swinging about the central spool c and the shaft b. The gear-wheel d is provided with an eccentric-pin g, actuatingthe link 'h and giving the arm vl oscillating motion. This arm has attached to one end of it the armn, with spools j j, which'can turn freely around their axial supports or arm n. The gears a, and d are rotated by the driving-gear k, rotating the transmissionfgear'l. The gear-wheel a rotates twice while gear d rotates once, so that the spools f of arms e c will pass between arms b and n or-inside of the spools jj by one revolution of gear a and then outside of the said spools or about both arms b and n Each spool is rotative on its spindle or arm, and the spools are shown in pairsto make the machine doubleacting; but a singleacting machine with spools only on one side of the mach-ine is lin- 5o eluded in the invention.
m, and n would pull or Work candy without the spools; but spools applied as shown have been found to give-satisfaction. Such rotary spools tend to prevent the candy from twisting and tend to preserve the running grain or the parallel air-cells of the candy.
The arm b may for convenience of descrip; tion be called a central arm, said arm not changing its place, although in the construction shown said arm rotates about its axis.
The arm m rotates on the plan of a crankpin or has a'planetary motion about the center or arm b, 'said arm m b eing shown keyed or secured by its arm or `web portion e to the central arm or rotating shaft b. The oscillating arm n has its supporting-arm t' suitably mounted or pivoted at'o.
The machine can ,be made of suitable material. Metal has been found satisfactory.
What We claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A candy-pulling machine comprising a cent-ral arm, a rotating arm andan oscillating arm.
2. `A candy-pulling machine comprising a central arm, a rotating arm made to rotate or swing about the central arm, and an oscillating arm made to move toward and from the central arm. n 3. -A candy-pulling Vmachine comprising a central arm, an oscillating ar1n,'and a rotating arm made to move yabout both the central v and oscillating arms and to move also between said twoarms.
4. A candy-pulling machine comprising a central, a rotating and an oscillating arm, and
spools for the arms.
v5. A candy-pulling machine' comprising a arm being operated by one of said gears, an l one of the arms being made to oscillate and eccentric-pin on the other of said gears, e the other arm being made to rotate. link connected to said pin, and an arm oscill In testimony whereof We have hereunto Set lated by said link. l our hands in the presence of two subscribing T5 8. A candy-pulling machine comprising Witnesses. arms, mechanism for respectively rotating MILES E. BERRYE. one arm and for oscillating another ofthe JAMES A. KANE. arms, and spools rotatively mounted on the JOHN E. STENGARD. arms. W'itnesses:
9. A candypulling machine comprising E. F. KASTENHUBER, arms and mechanism for actuatingsaid arms, lV. C. HAUFF.
