TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, CHARLES REISTLE, of' No. 46 State street, Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, in the State of New York, have invented a new and improved'Custer and Bottle-Holder; and I do hereby declare that the followingiis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, in which drawingi Figure 1 represents a caster containing my improvement.
Figure 2 is a pien view.

This invention consists in providing casters with springs forl holding and securing them in place, so that they will not be liable to become accidentally displaced, or to fall out of their proper positions. The 'springs can be of various forms, so long as they accomplish the object of holding the cruets in place. I
In this example I place the springs on the upper part-s of the standard ofthe caster, and make them bifurcatcd, so as to allow thel necks of the cruets or bottles to enter between their forks and divisions.
The invention is also applicable to hottie-holders for dressing-bureaus andsideboards.
The letter a designates vthe base, and the letter b the, standard of affiasterftofwhich my improvement is applied. The base has divisions or spaces with ridgesf, which mark the-place for the bottom of the cruet or bottle e, the ridgefholding the same in proper position, and preventing itfroni slipping or sliding oii` the base. The upper part of the standardhas springs d, which project from brackets on the standard, or directly from the standard, as may be preferred. The use of the brackets adds to the good appearance of the caster, and enables une to employ a greater variety of ornaments to set it off to advantage. The springs d are' bifurcated, or, in other words, made with =two leaves, the ends of the leaves being made Haring to permit the narrow neck of a eruet or bottle to enter between them, and their inner sides being made semicircular, at a point vertically above the centre of the circular ridgef of the base, so as 'to embrace the neck of the eruet or bottle, as 4shown in the drawing. The cruet is drawn away from and inserted between the-leaves ofthe spring with facility, and without requiring one to lift it to a considerable height, as in the case of casters where cruets are confined by means of a, series -of rings in which the oruetsare set. f
' What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,.is
As a new article of manufacture, the table-caster above'described, consisting of the base a, the ridges f, the
standard b, and brackets and springs 0l, as specified.
y This specification signed by me, -this 10th day of October, 1867.
' CHARLES REISTLE.
