CHRIS STADLER, OF MENOMINEE, MICHIGAN.
N IECK YOKE.
$PEGIFICATION.forming part of Letters Patent No. 726,585, dated April 28, 1903.
Application filed March 26, 1902.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHRIS STADLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Menominee, in the county of Menominee and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Neck-Yoke, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates toimprovements in neck-yokes in which a pole-strap acts in conjunction with the guide -wheel, which is fastened to the head of the neck-yoke by a link; and the object of my invention is to provide a means by which the pole-strap can play over a wheel, obviating the strain and frequent breakage of the strap and the jerking of the. neck of the animal harnessed. I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a detailed view in perspective of the entire machine as it appears when attached to the neck-yoke. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the guide-wheel with its bearings. Fig. 3 is a detailed view of the combined guide-wheel and link. bearing on which the guide-wheel revolves. Fig. 5 is a view in perspective of the guidewheel detached. Fig. 6 is an end View of the guide-wheel detached. Fig. 7 is a detailed view in perspective of the ferrule attached to the neck-yoke.
Similarletters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Fig. 4c is a view of the Serial No. 100,131. (No model.)
The pole strap a is ordinarily passed through a ring attached to the end of the neck yoke b by the staple 0; but in my invention I pass it around the barrel d of the guidewheel e, where it is guided and held in place by the flanges ff, which in turn are guided and held in place by the shoulders g g of the link 71, the lower end of which is securely fastened to the end of the neck-yoke b by the staple 0, through which it freely oscillates. For greater durability the guide-wheel e is made to revolve on an axle j, which may be lubricated through an oil-hole 7c in the barrel d of the guide-wheel e; and the shoulders g g prevent the pole-strap afrom fouling with the flanges f f of the guide-wheel. e.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination in a neck-yoke, of a guide- Wheel revolving upon an axle and guarded by shoulders with a link by which it is also securely attached to the neck-yoke by a staple, through which the link passes, substantially as set forth and for the purposes specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHRIS STADLER.
