I Z I I Air ays FLORENCE CLEEK, OF LADONIA, TEXAS.
DISH-DRAINER.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent No. 725,825, dated. April 21, 1903. Application filed August 16,1902. Serial No. 119,931. No model.)
To (tZZ whom, it may concern:
Beit known that I, FLORENCE CLEEK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ladonia, in the county of Fanuin and State of Texas, haveinvented anew and useful Dish-Drainer, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in dish-pans.
The object of the presentinvention is to improve the construction ofdish-pans and to provide a simple, inexpensive, and efficient utensil designed to receive dishes after the same have been washed and adapted to permit clean water to be poured over the dishes and capable of afiording free ventilation, whereby the dishes are quickly dried without the use of a cloth.
The invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of the receptacle, the perforated false bottom or strainer being removed to illustrate the arrangement of the brackets and the locking devices. Fig. 2 is adetailperspective view of the false bottom or strainer. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view, the parts being assembled.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
1 designates a shallow receptacle having an imperforate bottom 2 and provided in its Walls with large openings 3, located adjacent to the bottom to permit air to circulate freely beneath a false bottom or strainer 4. The false bottom or strainer 4, which is constructed of sheet metal and which consists of a perforated disk, is supported upon brackets 5, having horizontal top portions and inclined lower portions or braces and soldered'or otherwise secured to the inner faces of the walls of the receptacle. Each bracket consists of a single piece of sheetmetal bent into approximately V shape, as shown, and these brackets, which may be of any desired number, receive the false bottom or strainer. The strainer or false bottom is rigidly held on the horizontal portions of the brackets 5 by means ofa lug or projectionfi and a resilient catch 7, which is located at a point approximately diametrically opposite the ing or projection 6. The lug or projection 6, which extends over and engages the upper face of the false bottom or strainer, is provided with a shank 8, which is' soldered or otherwise secured to the inner face of the receptacle. The resilient catch '7 is secured to the inner face of the receptacle and is provided with a lower depressible portion forming a shoulder for engaging the upplaced Within the dish-pan and clean water is poured over them to complete the operation of washing. The dish-pan permits the Water to drain thoroughly from the dishes, and the large side openings and perforations of the false bottom or strainer permit a thorough and free ventilation of the dish-pan, and the dishes are caused to dry quickly, thereby obviating the necessity of wiping them with a cloth for that purpose. The supplemental or false bottom is adapted to be readily detached to permit the dish-pan to be thoroughly dried after use.
What I claim is- 1. A device of the class described comprising a receptacle provided with lower side openin gs, a false bottom or strainer arranged within the receptacle and located above the side openings, brackets supporting the false bottom or strainer, and locking devices detachably securing the false bottom or strainer in position, substantially as described.'
2. A device of the class described comprising a receptacle having side openings, afalse bottom or strainer alsoprovided with openings, brackets mounted on the receptacle and supporting the false bottom or strainer, a In testimony that I claim the foregoing as fixed lug or projection mounted on the recepmy own I have hereto affixed my signature in tacle and engaging the false bottom or strainer the presence of two witnesses.
at one side thereof, and a resilient catch 10- FLORENCE OLEEK. 5 cated at the opposite side of the receptacle Witnesses:
