Description

No. 724,002 I v PATENTED-MAR. 31, 1903.
. H. PRBYTAG. POKER 0R BRANDING TOOL FOR USE IN PYROGRAPHY.
APPLICATION FILED 0O1. 5, 1900.
NO MODEL.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
HERMANN'FREYTAG, OF STUTTGART, GERMANY.
POKER OR BRANDlNG-TOOL FOR USE IN PYROGRAPHY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 724,002, dated March 31, 1903. Application filed October 5, 1900. Serial nasalsz. (No model-l 1'0 alt whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMANN FREYTAG, merchant, a subject of the King of Wiirtemberg, residing at Stuttgart, Kingdom of Wintemberg, German Empire, have invented new and usefulImprovements in Pokers or Branding-Tools for Use in Pyrography, of which thefollowing is a specification.
The present invention relates to an improved poker or branding=tool for use in pyrography which is constructed in such a manner that the smoke, benzin vapors, and fumes largely developed during the operation are blown forward or away from the operator automatically and without cooling down the working point.
I will now proceed to describe my invention more fully, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 illustrates a view of an apparatus complete as used in pyrography, Fig. 2 shows the receiver of the poker 0r brandingtool on an enlarged'scale. Fig. 3 illustrates a section on line A B, and Fig. 4' illustrates a central vertical section through Fig. 2.
The end of the tube a is coupled to the flexible tube a of the benzin apparatus bin the well-known manner. Into the front end of the tube a the branding-tool receiver d is screwed, the poker or branding-tool e being inserted into the front end of this receiver (1. At the right and left of the central bore h of the receiver 01 openings 1' 7c are provided, which terminate in exhaust-holes f g externally of the operating-tool e. The operating-tool e is hollow and provided with exhaust-openings Z m at its rear end. The tool e has one side shaped and sharpened like a knife, the other side being rounded.
When employing an operating-tool of the hereinbefore-described kind in the art of pyrography, the air for blowing away the benzin-vapors is heated with said benzinvapors inside theglowihg-tool and escapes .through the openings Z m in the tool and through the openings f g at the front of the receiver. In this manner the benzin-vapors are carried away automatically from the operator, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the tool is prevented from cooling down by virtue of blow-01f air-currents.
What I claim as new, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is
An improved poker or operating-tool for use in pyrography with a hollow operatingpoint, knife-like sharpened at one side and rounded at the other side, exhaust-openings at the rear end of the hollow operating-point and exhaust-openings at the front end of the tool-carrier communicating with the exhaustopenings at the rear end of the operatingpoint, substantially as described and shown and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HERMANN FREYTAG. Witnesses:
KARL FREYTAG, FUL. HAUSSERMANN.
