LIGHT OR GLAZED FRAME FOR HOTBEDS, FORCING-FRAMES, &c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 723,163, dated March 17, 1903. Application tiled October 29, 1902. `Serial No. 129,278. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern: y n
Be it known that I, GUsrAv KNooHnN- HAUER, gardner, a subject of the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, residing at Schaala, near Rudolstadt i. Th., in the dominion of the Prince of Schwarzbarg-Rudolstadt, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Lights `or Glazed Frames for I-Iotbeds, Forcing- Frames, and the Like,of which the following is a specification.
In the construction of hotbed or like lights `with removable parts, as described in my previous patent, Specification No. 707,932, of August`26, 1902, the wooden longitudinal side bars of the frame and the wooden longitudinal middle bars are removably secured at their upper and lower endsbetween metal bars by screw-bolts in an easily-detachable nal section.
manner, lwhile the spaces between the metal bars and the longitudinal bars are illed with blocks of Wood detachablysecured by screws i to the under metal bars and with these bars forming the cross-bars of the frame.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l showsan improved light 6r sash in longitudi- Fig. 2 is a top plan View of the same,`partly in section; and Fig. 3 shows a cross-section of the window.
My invention relates to an improvement on the construction above described; and it consists in doing away with the metal bars and the whole ofl the vertical screw-bolts without in anyway aecting the easy removal of the single parts. Instead of y the omitted parts horizontal screw-bolts 3"l are used, extending through the upper and lower ends of the lon- `1 `gitudinal sides of the frame 1 and of the intermediate longitudinal bars 2, as Well as through the filling-blocks 4, with their heads i y and nuts z being embedded in the longitudinal parts lof the frame.
In this manner the window frame ish rendered perfectly smooth and fiat onthe outside and no metallic parts except the screws 'y and nuts .c can be y seen. In older to Aallow broken panes to be screws s, after which the glasscan be removed from the top. After insertion of the new glass the detached parts 4a and s are put back in their places. Handles 9 can be directly secured to the longitudinal bars 2.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention aud iu what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is f In a frame for hotbeds and the like, a pair of side bars and a plurality of intermediate bars extending longitudinally of said frame, each of said side bars having a longitudinal groove in its inner side, and each of said intermediate bars having two longitudinal grooves therein, a plurality of transparent plates mounted end to end in said grooves and retained in position by clamps, a plurality of filling-blocks arranged transversely between the ends of said side and intermediate bars, horizontal bolts passing transversely through said side and intermediate-bars and longitudinally through said filling-blocks,the ends of said bolts being countersunk in said side b ars, and a detachable section secured to each of the filling-blocks at one end of said frame, the lower corner of each section being cut away to receive the upper edge of the adjacent transparent plate, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GUSTAV K NOCHENHAUER.
