Letters Patent No.V 72,145, tinted December 10, 18.67.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOYES.
T()4 ALL WHUM IT MAY CONCERN: I
Beit known that I, T. W. WIENER, of Howell, in the county of Livingston, and State of Michigan, have invcnteda new and useful Improvement in' Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and usc the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and improved method of Aconstrueting those stoves which are us or steaming vegetables, and for all other purposes of a similar nature; and the djustahle grate, which grate occupies the whole interior superficial area et'V the -wheels, which ed for dry'- ing purposes, or for heating water allows of its being transported from place to place, as may be required.
Figurcl represents atop view of the stove with the boiler-oriec open, Figure 2 is a. view ofthe steam-boiler, which is -used for boiling water in barre et' a conducting-pipe attaehedto thctop of the boiler.
Figure 3 is a. vertical longitudinal section ef the stove, through the line a: :c of iig. 1. Similar letters of reference indicate like parts. Y The sides and ends of the stove are made of corrugated iron plate. The stove is without a. bottom otherwise than that formed by the ash-pit or pan which extends under the whole stove. The stove-grate is made in two erV more sections, the back portion of which may have broader apertures between the bars than the front, for the purpose o'f preventing the accumulation of ashes and coals on the grate.
The stove has legs attached to its sides or ends, through which rods pass, upon are truck-wheels, upon which the stove is supported, and upon which it may bc transported from place to place. y A represents the side of the stove, made of corrugated iron plate, es by this form it is not likely to be damaged by expansion and contraction under the iriiluenec of heat. The grate is placed at b by passing a rod through on each side of the stove for it to rest on. The ash-pit or pan may be attached to the stove permabe loose and rest on the rods which support the truck-wheels. B is the ashthrough which the {ire-grate is seen. ls orother vessels'by the use nently, as represented, or it may pit or pan; c represents rods which hold the plates ot the stove together; d is the smoke-pipe; e is the cover to the boiler-hole.
The stove is more especially designed for hop-drying purposes; but for various operations around the farmhouse, as well as other places, it will be found extremely useful.I
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The portable hop-drying stove,'censtructed as described, of the corrugated side and end. plates A, supported upon the ash-pan B, extending the entire length ot' the stove, and mounted upon wheels,`the adjustable grate placed at b, in the centre of the stove, and the boiler, all arranged as described for'thc purpose specified.
