Description
UNITED STATES I PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE BASTEDO, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
ELECTRIC-BATTERY COMPOUND.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 716,656, dated December 23, 1902.-
Application filed March 28, 1902. Serial No. 100,472. (No specimens.)
To. all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE BASTEDO, acitizen of the United States, residing at Brook-' lyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric-Battery Compositions or Compounds, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame.
My improved composition or compound for electric batteries consists of the following ingredients in the proportions specified, viz: dilute sulfuric acid, fifteen pounds; nitric acid, fifty drams; bisulfate of mercury, one ounce.
In practice the nitric acid and the hisulfate of mercury are first thoroughly mixed or mingled in any desired manner, after which the dilute sulfuric acid is added thereto and the product is again thoroughly mixed by stirring, agitating, or in any other preferred manner, and the composition or compound is then in condition for use and is used in the same manner as all other compositions or compounds of this class.
My composition is designed for use in forming lead peroxid on the positive-pole electrode for use in a lead and zinc battery, and I am aware that some of the elements of my composition or compound have heretofore been used for a similar purpose; but I am not aware that all the ingredients of my composition have heretofore been used together.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described composition of matter consisting of dilute sulfuric acid fifteen pounds, nitric acid fifty drams and bisulfate of mercury one ounce, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 24th day of March, 1992.
GEORGE BAS'IEDO.
Witnesses:
F. A. STEWART, F. F. TELLER.
