HAWKINS WV. EPPERLY, OF OAMBRIA, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF, GEORGE W. LINGO, AND P. A. FOR-RESTER, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICAL COMPOUNDS.
Specification t'ormingpart of Letters Patent No. 149,455, dated April 7, 1874; application filed July 10, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HAWKINS XV. EPPERLY, of the town of Gambria, county of San Luis Obispo and State of California, have in vented a certain Medicinal Compound. The following description forms a full and exact specification, wherein are set forth the nature and principles of the invention, by which. the same may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts thereof as are claimed as new and are desired to be secured by Letters Patent of theUnited States.
This invention relates to that class of compounds used for medicinal purposes; and consists in a composition formed by mixing thoroughly together the following ingredients: One ounce of pulverized alum, one ounce of sulphuric acid, one pint of the spirits of turpentine, and one quart of linseed-oil.
The pulverized alum is first mixed with the spirits of turpentine, after which the linseedoil is added. After these ingredients have been thoroughly mixed, the sulphuric acid is lastly added. After cooling, the compound should be innnediately bottled.
The compound is intended to be used externally for sores and bruises.
I prefer to designate this compound as Mo- (loc Liniment and I claim and desire to secure by Letters Paten t I A compound consisting of the above-described ingredients, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
