a citizen of the United States, residing at i Streator, in the county of Lasalle and State of Illinois, have invented certain new anduseful Improvementsin Fru it-Bottle Holders;` and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,

clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. This invention relates to a fruit-can holder. The object of my invention is to provide an inexpensive holder or gripping arrangement for fruit-bottles and one that will hold the bottle firmly after being set and locked.

A indicates a support for the bottle, which l consists of a bracket which may be firmly attached to the wall or table or other convenient object. Said bracket has a depression B, in Erected at the front of the bracket is a block C, which carries a metal strip D by means of screws. The ends of the latter project beyond said block C, and

`a pin E passes through a hole at one end of said strip D into a hole in the bracket A just beneath and has a metal bushing F. A metal band G, having an overturned end to form an eye, isheld by the said pin E, as shown in the figures. The other end of said band is similarly constructed, and a pin H passes through it, and each end of said pin is carried in a loop oreye I of a lever J. This is constructed as in Fig. 3, in which the pin H is shown as set away from the pivotal extremities of the lever, one of such extremities being carried in the strip D and the other in `a hole K in the bracket A. Now it will be seen that if the lever J is swung to its limit in either direction the end of the band G will describe an arc of a circle about the ends of said lever where carried in the strip D and 4bracketA. This being true, if a bottle be set `upon the bracket and the lever thrown to a position to cause the band G to grip the bottle the end thereof held by the pin H will `be drawn forward to the limit of movement,

and then by throwing the lever beyond the center the pin H will pass behind the pivoted point of the lever, Where it will remain under tension until released by a reversed movement.

I have constructed the device so that bottles of any size may be accommodated. This I accomplish by providing at several points a loop or eye L, so that if large bottles are employed the device is used in the `position shown; but for smaller bottles the pin E is removed and one of the loops L is placed beneath it and held thereby as before. This adjustable feature is a very important part of my device and will be so recognized.

I find that bottles, although made to hold a stated amount of fruit, are quite apt to be variable in size, being overlarge. This happens in forming the bottle, and no two are of the same size or roundness. The consequence of this is that the band G cannot always be locked, if too large, by means of the lever J. To provide means for locking for each bottle, I have made use of a notched strip J pivoted to the block C. When the lever J is prevented from going far enough to be locked, the` strip J is thrown down to engage the said leverby one of the notches. The bottle will thus be held in a firm manner, as will be understood.

Having thus described my invention, I Claimmi l.
