HUNT, of -Winchendon, in the county otiWorcester, and State of Massa, chnsetts, have invented an improved Stove-Cover Lifter; and I do`hereby declare that the following, taken in connection with the drawings which accompany and form part of this specification, is a description of my inven` tion suicient to enable th'ose skilled in `theart to practise it.V i 4 This device is designed as an improvement on others now in' use for the samepurpose, it.beingextrcmely: simple, cheap, effective, and convenient, as it is not liable'to the breakage incident to cast-ironlifters, is cheaper than forged ones, and does not require a handle like other wire lfters nlade of a single wireshaft, or of two` u wires, or one wire doubled, twisted together into a single shaft. As the formation of thelifter is entirely open, it is easily hung in its appropriate placeon a nai such form gives great radiating surface in proportion to its` cross-section Vand bulk, the hand-,end remains cool enough to be grasped, even `if the point is coupled with a very hot cover. The free ends of the wireimay be united by or to a cast piece, of suitable shape for-coupling with a cover; get wrought iron may be welded to said ends and suitably shaped.

The longitudinal curvature of the entire lifter may be made as desired; but I prctei` to have it such that,`

when resting on any plane surface, `some part Vof the'hand-end can be grasped without contact of the hand with the supportngpsurface.
