UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
NATHAN RUBENSTEIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.'
DEVICE FOR SECURING SEATS AND LIDS OF CLOSET-BASINS.
SPECIFICATION forming part f Letters Patent No. 711,127, dated October 14, 1902.
Application filed April 1| 1902.
T0 LZ/3 whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, NATHAN RUBENSTEIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county of New York and State of New York, have made and invented certain new and usefnl Improvements in Devices for Securing the Seats and Lids of Closet-Basins, of which'the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved device for securing the seat and lid of a closet-basin, the object of the same being to provide means which shall be simple and cheap to manufacture, easily and readily assembled, and effective in use.
With these and otherends in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts, as willbehereinafterfu1lydescribed,and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of a basin having myimproved device attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings, 4 represents a basin of any approved style or pattern, the lower end of which is contracted and provided with a flange 5, fitting against the flange 6, formed on the upper end of the trap-pipe 7 in the usualway. `Over and upon the iiange 5 is fitted the semicircular clamp 8, and below the iiange 6 is located a similar clamp' 9, both of said clamps being provided with the ears or lugs 10 at the two ends and intermediate lug 11, through which Vlugs pass bolts 12, whereby the basin and" trap-pipe are securely held together.
To the upper clamp 8 is bolted or otherwise Serial No. 101,006. (No model.)
secured the lower end of the inclined bracket 4o or support 13, the upper end of which is formed with a yoke 14, the extreme ends of the latter being bent outwardly to form ears or lugs 15. To each of these lugs is secured a hinge, one leaf 16 of which is secured to the seat 17 and the other leaf 18 to the cover 19. By forming the upper end of the support 13 with the yoke 14 the latter iits around the pipe connection 20, secured to the basin without interfering therewith.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a device of the characterdescribed, the combination with a clamp for securing together the basin and trap-pipe, of a support or bracket secured at its lower end to the clamp and provided at its upper end with a yoke, and hinges secured to the ends of said yoke for attachment to the seat and cover, substantially as described.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination with the semicircular clamps 8 9 of the support 13 secured to the former of said clamps and provided at its upper end with the yoke 14, and hinges secured to the extreme ends of said yoke for attachment to the seat and cover, the several parts being constructed and arranged substantially as de-t scribed.
Signed at New York, in the county of New Yor-k and State of New York, this 26th day of March, A. D. 1902.
