TITO ROSATI, OF FLORENCE, ITALY.
ELECTRIC CABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters fatent NO. 706,599, dated .August 12, 1902.
Application filed January 30, 1901. Serial No. 5,386. (No model-l To 'HJ/Z 71171/0771/ it 'may concern:
Beit known that I, TITO ROSATE a subject ofthe King of Italy, and a resident of Florence, Italy, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Electric Gables, ot' which the following is a specification.
My invention relates more particularly to cables having surrounding sheaths or protectors; and the object of the invention is to provide an improved form of coupling for connecting the sections of the conductor and its encircling sheath or tube.
The invention is illustrated in the accoinpanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a longitudinal section; Fig. 2, an elevation, and Fig. 2 a cross-section.
In the drawings, a indicates the conductor, and b the sheath or protector, which consists of a metallic tube formedl in sections corresponding approximately in number and length to the sections a of the conductor. The adjoining ends f of the conductor are threaded and are engaged by a small copper rod g and a tubular coupling-'sleeve 7L, having its ends threaded to engage the ends of the conductor-sections. A large sleeve c encircles the inner sleeve and in like manner connects the adjoining ends of the tubes Z). All opening is provided in this outer sleeve, closed by a screw-plug e, and this opening alines with an opening in the inner sleeve, through which a suitable filling material may be introduced.
I declare that what I claim is- In combination an inner cable composed of sections, hollow coupling-sleeves connecting the ends of said sections and having an opening therein, tube-sections encircling said cable-sections and having couplings connecting the adjoining ends thereof, said outer coupling-sleeves having an opening alining with the opening in the inner coupling-sleeve and means for closing said opening, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses. A
TITO ROSATI. lVitnesses:
EUGENIO BEccIIINI, SPIRITO BERNARD.
