A TTORNE YS IoA JNtTED STATES.
ATENT wie.'
EUGENE C. LUDIN,' OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BOTTLE-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 703,802, dated July 1, 1902. Application filed'lehruary 26, 1901. Serial No. 48,879. (No model.)
To @ZZ 'whom it Dungeon-c6772,.- Y
Be it known thatI, EUGENIE C LUDIN, a citi- Zen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State'ofNew York, have invented a new and ImprovedBottle-Holder, of which the following isa full, clear, .and exact description.
The object ofthe invention isito provide a is represented in the accompanying drawings,
forming a part of `this' specication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure l is a perspective view. of. the improvement. Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of the same.-V Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the same, and Fig. 4 is an enlarged perspective View of the improvement with the cap shown removed from the shank of the base.
A suitably-shaped baseAis formedwitha hollow neck A', into which extend the middle portions of U-shaped arms B B', of which the middle portion of the arm B is formed with an offset B2, in thennder side of which tits the middle portion B3 of the other arm B', said arms B B crossing each other at the middle portion at a right angle, the lower por-v tions of the arms extending through registering openingsAg, formed in the neck Af, asis plainly indicated in Fig. 4. A cap C fits over the neck A and is provided with apertures Cl` in its depending ange C2, said apertures registering with the aperturesA2 to permit thei In order `to lock the arms` securely in place. in the hollow shank A' and the capC, molten metal D is poured into said shank and the hollow cap, when'the base Aand the arms B B are held in an upside-d own position, so that Lthe molten metal upon'hardening securely fastens the arms in position in the neck and cap and alsovsecures the capto the neck.
From the foregoing it is vevident that the walls of the apertures A2 and C' form snpports for the arms B B' to prevent said arms losing their proper positions when-the holder is used. l
I do not limit myself to the use of but two U -shaped arms, as shown, as it is evident that more such arms crossing and interlocking each other in the neck ofthe base maybe used,
.if desi red.
Having Ath us fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent.-
l. A bottle-holder;comprising a base, arms resting on the base an'd crossing each otherat their middle portions, and a cap covering the crossed middle portions of the arms, the side portions of said arms rising from the base and cap.
2. Arbottlefholder, comprising a base havinga hollow neck, arms crossing each other at their middle portions in said hollow neck, acap for-closing the neck and middle portions of the arms, and metal filling said neck and cap and surrounding the crossed portions of the arms, as set forth.
A bottle-holder, comprising a base havving a hollow neck, U-shaped arms crossing each other at their middle portions in said hollow neck, a cap for closing the neck, and metal i filling said neck and cap and surrounding and interlocking each other atl their middle portions in said hollow neck, a cap for closing the neck, and metal filling said neck and cap and surrounding the crossed andinterlocked portions, as set forth.
5. A bottle-holder, comprising a base having a hollow neck, arms crossing each other at their middle portions in said hollow neck, roo
a cap forelosing the neck and middle portions naine to this specification in the presence of vof the arms, and metal lling said neck and twoA subserihingwitnesses.
cap and surrounding the crossed portions of EUGENE C LUDIN the arms, the arms extending through regis- 5 tering openings in the neck and the depend- Witnesses:
ing,r ange of the cap, as set forth. Y ALFRED SMITH? In testimony whereof I have signed my LOU FERRY, Jr.
