To all whom it may. concern,.-

Be itknown that I, WILLIAM JAMES Lnw- ERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vilkesbarre, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Gaine Counter and Annunciator, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is a combined game counter and annunciator, the object being to provide a device by means of which when the winningscore is registered an alarlnwill be sounded. It is Well known that in progression games, such as euchre, a signal is sounded from the Iirst table announcing the start, and when the winning-point has been made at the first table a signal is given announcing the close of the game. Heretofore these signals have usually been given by an ordinary hand-bell, which was usually in the way during the game and frequently knocked off the table and causing considerable inconvenience. With the object of avoiding all of these difficulties I have devised a combined game counter and annunciator which can be applied to the top of a table or made in the form of a table-top and placed upon an ordinary table; and the invention consists, essentially, of a counterplate having a plurality of holes adapted to receive a counter-pin which is intended to serve as a circuit-closer whenever the winning-score is registered, said circuit-closer being adapted to be brought into contact with plates connected with a dry battery and electric magnetic bell.

The invention consists also in arranging a push-button in connection with the said circuit, whereby a starting-signal may be given.

The invention consists also in certain details of construction and novelties of combination, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings forming part of this speciiication, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a table equipped with my combined game counter and annunciator. Fig. 2 is an inverted perspective view of the said top. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of a table-top and electrical appliance attached thereto. Fig. dis a detail plan view of the counter-plate. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on the line 5 5 of Fig. il. Fig. 6 is a sectional view of the central puslbbutton, and Fig. 7 is a detail view of the counterpin and circuit-closer.

In carrying out my invention I employ a battery A, which has an electromagnetic bell B, switch C,and circuit-wires D connected thereto, said circuit-wires terminatingin the con tact-plates E, which are arranged upon opposite sides of an opening F, produced in the top of the table for the purpose of receiving the score or counting pin G, the lower end thereof being of metal and adapted to contact with the plates E for the purpose of closing the circuit and sounding the alarm. This opening F is arranged in alinement with the opening F, produced in the counter-plate I-I, said opening F' having a numeral arranged adjacent thereto, which designates the winning point or score. The plate I-I also has a series of other openings adapted to receive the counting or scoring pin during the intermediate stages of the game; but when the pin is inserted in these openings F2 the circuit is not closed.

A push-button I is arranged at the center of the table and also connected with the circuit, whereby an alarm or signal may be sounded. A counter-plate II is arranged at diagonally opposite corners of the table-top and is lush with the top of the table, the head only of the counting-pins projecting above the table-top, and all interference with the player is entirely avoided.

In operation the push-button is depressed when the game is started, thereby giving the signal from the rst table that the ganio is commenced. As each point is scored the counter-pin is moved along the successive openings until the winning score has been scored, and the moment the'counter-pin has been placed in the opening designating the winning score the signal will be sounded announcing the close of the game. By means of this apparatus it will be impossible to delay sounding the signal announcing the close of the game. By means of the switch C the current can be interrupted at any time, so as to render the device inoperative. If desired, a suitable box or case K may be secured to 'the bottom of the table for the purpose of covering and concealing the battery and bell.

Having thus fully described my invention,

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. A combined game counter and annunciator consisting of a counter-plate having a plurality of counter-holes adapted to receive a counting-pin, circuit-closin g plates arranged adjacent to the counting-plate and adapted to receive the counting-pin at the terminal score and the electromagnetic bell and circuit connected with the contact-plates, substantially as shown and described.

A combined game counter and annunciator comprising in combination a board having counter-plates attached thereto and provided with suitable openings, metallic counter-pins adapted to be inserted in the said openings,the contact-plates arranged beneath the terminal opening, the electromagnetic bell, battery and circuit attached also to the board and connected with the contact-plates, substantially as shown and described.

A combined game counter and annunciator comprising in combination a board having counterplates arranged thereon, said counter plates having openings produced therein, and marked to designate the points of the game, a metallic counter-pin adapted to be inserted in said openings, contact-plates arranged beneath the terminal opening, the battery, electromagnetic bell, push-button and circuit-wires, all arranged and adapted to operate substantially as described.

The combination with a board having counter-plates arranged tl1ereon,said counterplates having a series of openings produced therein, of the counter-pins adapted to be inserted in the said openings, the lower ends of said pins being metallic, the contact-plates arranged beneath the terminal openings, the circuitwires, battery and electromagnetic bell, and the switch for opening and closing the circuit, substantially as described.
