SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 701,350, dated June 3, 1902.

To all whom it may concern:

- Be it known that 1, CHARLES G. KELLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at- 3118 Illinois avenue, in the city of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Supporting Shoes lVhile Polishing Same; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to improvements in a device for supporting shoes for shining; and it consists in the novel arrangement,construction, and combination of parts as Will be more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

The object of this invention is to provide a means whereby a shoe or boot is supported in order toclean and shine it.

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my complete invention. Fig. 2 isa side view with a number of its parts in section.

In the construction of the device as shown I provide a rod or bar 1, suitably bent and supported in a bracket 2, by which the same is supported to some rigid support, its opposite end carrying a last 3, it being arranged to fit various sizes of shoes, and is adjustable by means of aslot 4., through which the rod 1 is passed. To the rod'l is pivotally secured a member 5, on thelower end of which is a heelpiece 6, and is to be placed in the shoe and by coming in contact with the heel portion of the same assists in supporting the shoe and keeping it in a flllll position. This feature is accomplished by the dog orpawl 7, pivotally carried by the rod 1, and engaging the ratchet-teeth 8, found on the members 5.

To the device any size shoe can be applied,- and byits construction the same can be tightly held and adjusted to any position, making it an easy task for shining. It is simple in construction, can be applied to any suitable support, and adjusted to any position.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim is 1. A device of the class described, comprisin g a support, a double last adj ustably mount ed upon the support, a bar pivotally carried upon the support, and means for retaining its lower heel end in the shoe, and means for retaining the entire device to a rigid object, substantially as specified.

2. A device of the class described, compris= ing a last of two sizes suspended to a rod or support, a bar pivotally carried by the rod, a heelpiece provided at the lower end of the bar, a means for retaining the shoe upon the last in a rigid position, and means whereby theentire device is supported to a rigid ob= ject, substantially as specified.

3. A device of the class described, compris in g arod suitably carried by a bracket, a double foot-last carried by said rod, a slot formed in said last whereby the same may be secured and adjusted upon the rod, a bar pivotally carried by said rod, a heelpiece secured to the lower end of the bar, and a pawl carried by the rod, and meshing with ratchet-teeth formed on the bar, for regulating the tension to the shoe rigidly holding it upon the last, substantially as specified.
