UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIC WALTER W. FRISBEE, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 697,334, dated April 8, 1902.
Application filed June 15,1901. Serial llm 64,716. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that LWALTER W. FRIsBEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Puzzle, of which the following is a specifica- The invention consists in the'peculiar construction of the various parts and in the novel manner of combining and arranging the same, j
all of which will be fully described hereinafter, and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a puzzle constructed in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View.
In carrying out my invention I employ a base-board or block A, which is preferably circular in shape and formed from a thin piece of wood. The upper face of this block or board has a circular groove A produced therein and in which is seated a circular wall B, preferably formed of pasteboard and projecting a shortdistance above the face of the base-board. The base-board also has a cen traldepression A which is preferably located centrally of the field inclosed by the circular wall B.
A hollow sphere 0, about three-fourths of an inch in diameter, is placed within the circular field or chamber, said hollow sphere having a single opening 0 about three-sixteenths of an inch in width. D indicates a solid sphere'of a size just small enough to pass through the opening 0. Both spheres O and D are arranged upon the field, and the puzzle is to so manipulate the base-boarder device asa whole that the solid sphere is first rolled into the hollow sphere and then the two together rolled into the centraldeprcssion; When this is accomplished, the puzzle is said to be solved. 7
It will thus be seen that I provide an exceedingly cheap and simple construction of puzzle and one which will require great nicety of manipulation in order to solve the same. It will also be understood that two or more small balls D may be used, if so desired.
Having thus fully described my invention,
'whatI claim as new, and desire to secure by LettersPatent, is-
A game apparatus comprising a fiat circular base A a circular Wall arranged thereon, said base'having a depression arranged centrallyof the wall, a hollow sphere having a single opening, and a solid sphere of a size adapted to fit into the central depression, and
also pass through the opening in the sphere,
substantially as described.
